I’m not disagreeing with Jessica. But Peter Galassi’s name hasn’t been mentioned.
He stuck with Hawthorne when he could have kept other gigs. He also filled in as a mutuel teller on big days when Hawthorne was dark.
Was he licensed? Probably?

In all of the anger and sadness about Hawthorne, it’s worth taking a minute to acknowledge that Jim Miller has been the heart and soul of that place. He’s synonymous with Hawthorne to me and has shared that track with so many of us.

Really feel for the many great horsemen, staff,& fans at Hawthorne,all very unsure if they are walking out of the track for the final time today. I was in that position a few times, just a sick feeling for those that love the place. Hoping for the very best long term for Illinois
