@SaintMarc2001 @novacheska4421 @oliver_irl I'm really unsure whether the people saying this have eyes. The second picture literally has a wider range. It gets both brighter and darker, that's contrast! What you call contrast in CSGO is the game just being uniformly darker and grayer.

@novacheska4421 @oliver_irl Idgaf how its calculated, its just looks less washed out. The 2nd pic says it all. Looks like haze and washed out, Who gives a shit how technically accurate it is if the end product looks like there is no contrast whatsoever

@SaintMarc2001 @sean_gause @oliver_irl Cyberpunk only rivals the lighting quality of CS2 if it's set to path tracing. That's because CS2 *is* path traced. It just does it when the map is made, and then you download that existing lighting information, costing your PC close to nothing. It's called baking.

@sean_gause @oliver_irl here, Cyberpunk has far more sophisticated lighting than CS2, yet its colors and contrast look much better. everything in CS2 has that weird, ugly milky tone. I just don’t find the look appealing at all

@mrpotato44_ I think your #1 focus should be more area differentiation rn. Separate the 2 bombsites through art differences, and that will give you ideas for the micro stuff too. Maybe have one of them slightly more overgrown, more worn, something like that. The map is very samey currently

@SaintMarc2001 @JimWoodUK @mrpotato44_ @CounterStrike I honestly expect a source 2 DZ map to fit into 3 GB with smart asset reuse. Keep in mind, things that already exist in the files dont contribute to the file size. Only custom textures, the geometry, and the lighting information. Its probably doable.

@hossel8 @JimWoodUK @mrpotato44_ @CounterStrike Yeah, I know, but at least 2 GB is expected. By the same metric, DZ maps should be at least 10 GB, if not more. In CS:GO, they used to be barely 1 GB. So if they add DZ and multiple DZ maps, the game size could become huge

@JimWoodUK @mrpotato44_ @CounterStrike Brother. If you do a full remake of ember in CS2. How big of file size you are expecting? Cache for example is probably not even 10% of size of ember/or dz map but it's 3gigs. Seems like DZ will cost a lot of space

The @CounterStrike team have done so much over the years to evolve CS into what it is now, and all people do is complain still to this day. Yes they could do more with more staff, but so could anyone in any business. The vocal minority need to appreciate updates when they arrive and stop snivelling anytime one drops, it's tiring to read, so I can't imagine how tiring it is to read for them. The same people crying about skins updates and a lack of constant content updates are often the same people who cry when there hasn't been new skins in 6 months. Compare CS to other games like COD and the difference is insane. I'll take free-to-play over £70 yearly releases full of pay-to-win skins and features, thanks

You can make spider man style fake parallax windows in CS2! There is no room there, zero geometry is drawn apart from the glass, just a neat way of using the parallax corrected cubemaps source2 offers #counterstrike
