Yeah nah it’s about modeling the behavior you want your child to copy. Giving them the internal strength and knowledge to do the right thing when they think no one is looking. Teaching them to be a leader, positive influence and navigate childhood with confidence, self esteem, and a strong self identity. Predators actually hate kids like this. They like kids with low self esteem, no talent, bad relationship with parents. They like sneaky kids, curious kids, naive kids. I always check my kids phones I’m not saying don’t do that. But yeah, picking their friends for them. Hovering over them. Not giving them the autonomy to make choices themselves can backfire. You gotta let them lean to navigate childhood and peer pressure. If they are good kids who care about what you think of them they should pass.

Yeah, I think you’re typically right, the problem is you never know what type of person your child will be. As much as we hate to admit it, our children aren’t ours. They are their own little people with their own thoughts and eventual morality. I was a great fit for my parents. So was my sister. But as someone who worked with kids for years, back when I was an older teen/young adult myself. The kids were themselves in front of me and yeah they acted 100% different in front of their parents than away from them. These kids were more peer influenced than parental control influenced. Tons of terrible kids come from straight edged religious parents and the parents are shocked at how their kids really act if they ever find out😂😂😂 Ironically my oldest daughter was a straight peer influenced follower so what’s funny is even tho I say this, I have had to ban her from certain individuals and it finally worked but took like two years of sneaking, groundings, constant fights, etc. She basically had to realize on her own that this friend group was terrible and toxic for her and wasn’t worth hurting the relationship and trust she had with her parents. She’s way happier now.
