@racingkate I’m am driven by logic and reason. Very analytical. And yet. Don’t believe in horoscopes or psychics. When it comes to this. I agree with you. And it goes against every fiber in my body.*** (***The fact that the track creates stories, not agreeing with you part. 😂)

I will say though that I think the Speedway loves a good storyline and sometimes she likes to interconnect them. For example: A rookie won the 1926 race. A rookie won the 2016 race. Do you catch my drift?

@500Indy1911 lol. It’s not that small. It has direct flights to St. Pete and Sarasota. It was part of the decision making progress when we moved her in 2021. The fact that there’s also a race in St. Pete was also considered 😁

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is trying something new this weekend over the PA during Qualifying. I think some people will love it, and some people will hate it with a passion. Interested to hear it. I’ll circle back on Saturday. 🔉 || #Indy500

@500Indy1911 I wish. We won’t be. Our boys schools schedule doesn’t really make it easy. We’re flying into Fort Wayne to stay with Family next Friday. And then will make the trip for the race Sunday. Then we have to fly Back Monday for a week of school. It annoying.

@OnDisasters My dad was there that day and told me about it when I was younger. He saw the wreck and said he knew Smiley was killed as soon as he saw it. It would be awhile before I ever saw the video and would have thought the same.

“While rushing to the car, I noticed small splotches of a peculiar gray substance marking a trail on the asphalt leading up to the driver. When I reached the car, I was shocked to see that Smiley's helmet was gone, along with the top of his skull. He had essentially been scalped by the debris fence. The material on the race track was most of his brain. His helmet, due to massive centrifugal force, was literally pulled from his head on impact ... I rode to the care center with the body. On the way in I performed a cursory examination and realized that nearly every bone in his body was shattered. He had a gaping wound in his side that looked as if he had been attacked by a large shark. I had never seen such trauma.” Description of CART medical director Steve Olvey on the accident that killed Gordon Smiley, that happened on this day in 1982. During qualifying, on the second warm-up lap, his March 81C Cosworth began to oversteer on turn 3, causing the car to slightly slide. When Smiley steered right to correct this, the front wheels gained grip suddenly, sending his car directly across the track and into the wall nose-first at nearly 200 mph (320 km/h). He was killed instantly. According to team mate Desiree Wilson, (…) “the biggest piece was a little ball of engine. There was nothing else except shattered bits, a bit of gearbox, a bit of a wheel, not even a seat. It was very ugly.”(…) This was Smiley´s third run at Indy after competing mostly on the US domestic series, but the driver obtained a record overseas that remains to this day. In 1979, Smiley raced in the British Formula One Championship (sometimes called the "Aurora Formula One Championship") that used mostly obsolete F1 cars. Smiley won a race, and to this day, this is the last F1 win by an American driver in a FIA-sanctioned event. (I will drop more details on Smiley´s career in a video in the comments)

My seats were $110 in 2018. In 2027 they will be $125. Id say that’s a good deal.

@indyracefan12 @MathieuRegan17 Logistically I think it’s more challenging than people realize. I wouldn’t want to travel on a plane let alone a few helicopters and drive 600 miles. Especially after driving 500. I need a nap after a flight. 😂

@MathieuRegan17 @howard2112 The biggest problem is any weather or accident delays on the 500 side, they don't make it to the 600. Even with the helicopter and plane standing by.

Every double attempt has happened in my lifetime!? Pretty cool ! Attempting five times is crazy!! How many were successful?
