My spider senses really tingling here. Something is up. China suddenly halts refined product exports. US military asks critical mineral producers for support. Trump admin facilitates a large gold order between the U.S. and Venezuela, with up to 1,000 kilograms of gold to be shipped to the U.S. And PM Carney does a huge and suddenly shift and offers strong support of Trump’s attack on Iran.

@bgurley There’s a burgeoning number of crypto projects (offering up extra GPU to rent). Currently, there don’t seem to be advantages in price, quality, and reliability. Longer term, I suspect there are advantages to this model. File storage is analogous where there are opportunities.

@CharlesXAdkins Who’s your customer and what problem are you solving? As a retail investor, I already have access to actively managed funds. Why would this need to be secured on a distributed ledger?

@Cointelegraph @dapperlabs @dapperlabs - is tokenizing text-to-image Disney characters (e.g., Mickey Mouse with a backward hat playing chess with Goofy) on the platform’s roadmap?

@Jason You’re painting with a broad brush - crypto isn’t just tokens and investment vehicles. Companies focusing on building on crypto infra / rails are growing, and new use cases are starting to emerge and having products built around them.

feels like the end of crypto in America… the advantage of these coins was velocity & the lack of regulation If it’s regulated & slow it’s not *that* different than the current banking system Mission accomplished by the SEC/government: maintain control of monetary supply

@balajis +1 that the state isn’t the right cut to look at - urban and rural is more accurate. Networks not true either - most families, I’d wager, are mixed. Love your thinking, but you’re trying to force fit the data into a framing better suited to your POV

As a consequence, blues and reds have partitioned at the level of both network and state. Blues have built one party Democrat states in Washington and California. Reds are now doing the reverse in places like Texas and Florida. The sociopolitical divergence is accelerating.
Balaji@balajis

Make America States Again? Noah asks what comes next. I think it matches his observation. Blue and red states are diverging. From each other and DC. Sanctuary cities vs e-verify. Gun laws, drug laws, abortion laws. As different as different countries. And so they may be.

Russian Telegram to this point has been the best source for info on in-progress Ukrainian military assaults. So far today, not much discussion on Kherson-related stuff. (So no big push just yet.)

@Jason If you had applied this principle in the mid to late 80s, you would have written Web1.0 off. Crypto’s UX challenges are being solved, and we’re starting to see real / non-ponzi companies and projects being built. Patience, please…

to be honest, it's a fairly basic technique I learned in the dotcom era: trust the founder but believe the product and customers

@Jason was right all along about crypto grift, for years and years now, even when lots of folks were laughing at him for being outspoken about this. At heart, Jason, you are still the reporter you were 30 years ago.

@ljin18 @beylin Solving for coordination challenges in contexts lacking strong institutions (think a more effective Wall Street Bets) is one of the more exciting ones. Fractional ownership of assets (and use of that as collateral) is another.

The most successful web3 social apps are going to look completely different than web2 social (rather than building "decentralized Twitter/FB/X") They'll lean into financial speculation & create new economic status games.

We need less tribalism, dogma, and conventional thinking in the United States. We need more common sense, personal responsibility, and independent thought. Think for yourself.
