How can you empathize with founders if you don't build stuff yourself?
This was one advantage of running HN while I was running YC. It was an enormous schlep, but it meant I was dealing daily with the same problems as the founders.

To be an original means to be non-consensus. To be non-consensus means to have conviction. To have conviction means to have a different vision of the future than the present.
Indian VCs have a worldview problem. They have none.

saw a well-known Indian VC on here say China is good at "following" but not "leading" in industries (or creativity) because of a conformist society. how are we still stuck at this level of copium from the guys who are supposed to be funding the frontier?
