Like to hear what people have to say outside the bubble. Good conversation and debate staves off dementia.

@stevemorris__ @m__d__w I agree. I think if she had went through with the assisted suicide it would have been one of the worst endings ever...but the fact they even made it a storyline is disappointing.

I found it incredibly saccharine personally (a parade of heavy handed callbacks stops being cute after 2, let alone 7) and also crazy unrealistic (the whole show is purportedly about how much she's personally grown and yet she is going to choose to be euthanized in her early 70s because she's just as vain and afraid of vulnerability as when it started? Plus she apparently doesn't tell her daughter and is fine just skipping out on seeing her infant grandson get even a little bit older? Two years is a long time for a small kid!) but it was a happy ending! I'm glad they didn't kill her, that would have been worse

The way Hacks declined and ended is sad to me - I found season one to be a genuinely great and refreshing season of TV - but also interesting because I feel like it's not unique and comes at the intersection of so many bigger currents. Shows/artists/even journalists both can (because of social media) and have to (because of atomization) do more fan service and allow more audience capture than ever before. That creates a feedback loop where those most willing to post online and have parasocial relationships with actors/TV shows (the most unwell people in society) now have a big voice in influencing art. Then you have the hollowing out of critics in general, which narrows the field of those who review a show to those who *personally like it* — season 1 had 75 reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes, while season 5 had 27. That both removes the voices most willing to provide sharp critique and creates an echo chamber that lulls creators into complacency. The most clear example: Game of Thrones was getting bad for *years* but still got incredibly good reviews until the literal final weeks! Idk. Bring back critics! Bring back non didactic TV! Make shit that will piss off fans of yours.

@Holden_Culotta You have to have a couple good bigger stores to anchor the mall and then it does okay. I find when big department stores leave that is when the mall suffers. And it has to be certain department stores...things that have higher priced items. Macy's is not enough.

Tim Dillon: “The old world is dead.” “Drive around LA and everything is for lease.” “Go to a mall and walk around the ancient ruins of the world that you grew up in.” “It’s not coming back.” “The world is never gonna look the way it did.” “As I’m reading on my phone about these tech billionaires trying to open Stargates, and these scientists disappearing that are supposedly working on anti-gravity technology, and I’m staring at a Hot Topic in the mall in Redondo Beach, it’s like a ghost town.” “I’m feeling like I’m looking at the past.” “I would wander around malls as a kid with my friends.” “You would smoke a joint … you’d get some food, but that world is dead.” “These commercial spaces are gone.” “The office spaces are gone.” @TimJDillon

@hsavoy22 He definitely “spaced out” at the beginning & she did most of the heavy lifting but! You could see it was love at first sight for him! The way he said hello & was struck by how pretty she is… they’re very sweet together 💯

I grew up north of Boston but moved to the West Coast when I was 25. When these two parents are on, it is so nostalgic for me. Hard to explain but their mannerisms and speech are so specific to Massachusetts you can't find it anywhere else in the country. I miss it! #loveonthespectrum

I adore Michelle Pfeiffer But so we mortals can live with ourselves - whenever you see a movie star with no Botox, fillers, etc she’s had the very best work done by the very best guy with the very specific instruction that she doesn’t want it apparent.

Mi admiración por Michelle Pfeiffer. En una serie de este año. Los Madison. Sin rellenos, botox ni filtros. 67 años de pura mujer. De pura actríz.

what do you mean that the musical theater actor who only books work on his wife’s coat tails is so bad in their current show that even his stans have to admit it? my haterism never loses (and he was unwatchable as orpheus too)

@FischerKing64 Such a great movie. I am always surprised how many people haven’t seen it. That one, porky’s and private school… they were all so naughty and fun.

This movie does end with a gut punch and has some dumb politics in it. But it’s also refreshingly naive for much of it - just a stupid and funny depiction of young people in 1982 enjoying themselves, chasing girls, living like teenagers should live:
LowRes Wünderbred@LowresWB

Just watched The Last American Virgin. I was genuinely awestruck by how cruel of a film this is. Impressive in showcasing the pathetic faults of young men and women so acutely for 1982. Ultimate red pill movie.

"You'll also get a mattress pad, blanket, and two pillows," United Airlines announced. "If you’re traveling with kids, a plushie too! @etnow She went through a period where her face was completely frozen with Botox. It was hard to watch her in movies. I am not sure what she did, but she looks so much better.
