I'm surprised that Meta isn't in a total insane lockdown (if anyone remembers what that is) state of emergency, given that their social business is under threat from Twitter, Metaverse is under threat from Apple, and AI is under threat from OpenAI and everyone else.

@jjenkov Didn’t get into the details but will it really change anything? ATM for me simpler main is just cosmetic change. Scripting? Well I rarely do it in Java but not because of psvm 😂

@jjenkov To slow down a bit with releases. Depends on project, it take some time to upgrade the app. Besides that everything is👌

@hubertwo The bigger the system, the more structure is typically needed. That is probably why monoliths felt "layer heavy" or "abstraction heavy". For smaller services you typically don't need as many "layers" or "abstractions" to be able to organize the code.

I just watched this video "OOP is Good* " which contains Brian Will's take on how to write good OOP code. I must say I disagree with it. I have used a compositional OOP style for 15+ years, and it works just fine (for me). youtube.com/watch?v=0iyB0_…

@jjenkov My thoughts (if anyone is interested): 1. OOP if done well works fine - truism 2. Composition over inheritance 3. "Too much abstraction" from my experience it's related to old legacy monoliths, problem disappeared when microservices became standard You can roast me now 😂

@pvergadia @googlecloud That's why cloud providers should do what they can to allow free testing of each of them as GCP did recently with Cloud Spanner.

All cloud providers offer 100s of services; I don't think that's bad. They serve a unique purpose; you don't need to know them all from the get-go; as you deal with a specific use case, you'll come to explore them on your own @googlecloud cheat sheet googlecloudcheatsheet.withgoogle.com

So someone sends you a CSV file, and you need to just list a field (e.g. email addresses) from it. What do you do? Probably open Excel or Google Sheets and import it and then copy from there. 💡What If I Told You…there was a quicker way? … 👇️

@hubertwo I usually fail to realise that surefire plugin argLine is configured somewhere else and Jacoco is not taken into account.

Whenever I add Jacoco to Maven to get test coverage I always end up with too much googling. This is an example where Java DX should improve.
