Last month we had 72,200 texts, about 2,400 a day. We average 600 calls a day. We measure answering the calls on the 2nd ring(see below) & responding to texts within 1 hour. I’m a huge believer in doing the simple things, insanely well. Communication is underrated.

Kennebunkport, Maine. This is a quintessentially New England summer experience. Amazing beaches, lobster rolls, fireworks and homemade ice cream. It’s living in a hallmark card. My favorite hotel- The White Barn Inn. It is iconic and just lovely with one of the greatest dining experiences on the east coast.

@JWurzak Yeah. We have three great weeks left, 2 in July and 1 in August. It’s an amazing location though and great space. The Residences are great also. It’s where we would always previously stay. . Nice family space. I’m happy to help w any suggestions you need. We love it there.

I’m planning a trip to Nantucket. What’s the best hotel preferably with “cottage accommodations”?

Sitting at a computer all day in a suburban office park is not how I want to spend my life. It’s going to drive me mad

@bhmalurbanist This building is undergoing a renovation to be the future home of Nashville based Architect Pfeffer Torrode.

It does appear that this building is being converted to some housing though, which is cool

It’s a shame that Cobb Lane in Five Points no longer has any retail. The old Blue Monkey and Delta Blues sit vacant while the former J Clyde is as a shell. Such a gorgeous street, it’s sad to see it like this

This new live/work infill development on the Southside looks pretty cool. I may be wrong, but it doesn’t appear they have parking. Has 11 units with a shared courtyard space. metropolitan2323.com/project

With the announced closure of Little Italy in Five Points, another vacant storefront will join the former Waffle House, Firehouse Subs, Pho Pho, and Alchemy locations. Something has got to change. This neighborhood has endless potential.

@hughesfc @bhmalurbanist Perception of crime/safety (whether based on reality or not) is probably part of it. Also, there was a time that 5 Points was THE spot for restaurants/bars until Lakeview, Avondale, and Parkside came along. COVID certainly struck a blow as well.

This car dealership is just an astonishingly poor use of land. Thank goodness it’s moving within the year

@bhmalurbanist @dmtrubman The worst part of this is that this block is what creates separation between active downtown and the Switch district (innovation depot, etc). This block is truly the main siding link along 2nd.

What an interesting and productive block we razed to build a parking lot for cops. Now that this police headquarters is abandoned this land (well served by a bunch of different subway and commuter rail lines) is intensely re-developed.

@bhmalurbanist Do you think zoning will allow those same assets / density to be built today??

If every neighborhood in the city of Birmingham was as dense as Five Points S & Highland Park, the city would skyrocket from 197k to 1.1+ million. Just imagine if you did the same thing to the suburbs! Hoover alone would have 360k, up from 92k.

@bhmalurbanist 20 midtown developers own it. There were Target rumors when they bought it. But it’s been a while since I’ve heard anything.

Redeveloping the car lot located in one of the most dense retail & residential pockets of downtown (2 blocks from BRT station, directly along the downtown shuttle, & adjacent to Rotary Trail, cities E/W pedestrian trail) should be a top priority for the city and local developers
