For the first time since last Tuesday, I smiled broadly. My 20yo texted. He and his boyfriend were already planning to come here for Thanksgiving. He just asked if four others from the LGBTQ+ community could spend the holiday at our house. IDK if they have no time to get home (school doesn't close until Wed afternoon) or if they don't want to be with their own families? It doesn't matter. There's plenty of room at our table! We are going to have a blast!🦃

Right NOW is the perfect time to prove to yourself that, YES, you can feel calm, chill, and focused...no matter what you're seeing/hearing on that screen. That's how you get good at this. Hell, it takes no conscious decision to feel relaxed. When you take a time when those around you feel on edge, it takes your buy-in. You have to decide whether you're just going to let go, breathe, and relax the muscles in your body. The more you do this in those situations, the more it will become your default mode. Of course, you can also just decide to go ahead and feel really shitty, scared, and panicky. Some people opt for that. I don't. When I have options...I go with the best option available; that's not something that's reserved just for me.......
