@hybeat1 @Prezain_LJ My point exactly, if he’s at the level where he can’t rent for family or it saves cost to rent with his friends, it’s better he does that, because bringing a wife in to share that rent it’s like his living with a “bro”, - (rent with friends like you said).

On the topic of 50/50, here are my two cents. Growing up, my father was responsible for all the bills in the house, ranging from rent and school fees to feeding, while my mum supported in any way she could. My dad never officially assigned any bill to my mum, like saying, “This year’s rent is your turn to pay.” My mum was a Chartered Accountant who earned reasonably well, and not once did she adopt the “my money is my money” mindset or hide her finances from the family. There were days she would go to the market, buy food items, and cook a sumptuous meal for the family without asking my dad for a penny, even though he always insisted on refunding her. She cooked, cleaned, and took care of the family. My dad only cooked on special occasions when he wanted to be romantic. I don’t know how my mum did it, but she always knew when my dad didn’t have money and would step up immediately. She never waited for him before doing certain things for the family. She bought my clothes, replaced my school bags and lunch boxes, and played her role effectively while my dad handled his. When my dad became a Commissioner and our financial situation improved drastically, he asked my mum to relax and use her money for herself while he took care of everything in the house, down to the salt in the kitchen. This is how I grew up, and there was never a day I witnessed my parents having issues over bills or chores. Everyone understood their roles, and they never quarreled about it, at least not to my knowledge. This is exactly how I intend to run my home. I enjoy providing for my family, and it is something to be proud of. Personally, I would not want my wife to pay for anything unless economic realities demand otherwise. Even at that, I cannot be with a woman who sees her money as only for herself and cannot support the family when needed. The moment she starts contributing and begins to challenge my leadership, I would simply make it clear that there cannot be two heads in the home. As a woman, you are working for a reason. While your primary responsibility may not be provision, you should be willing to step up when necessary. You are not doing your husband a favor; you are fulfilling your role as a wife. There is nothing wrong with paying rent, school fees, or feeding the family when your husband is temporarily unable to do so. The idea of keeping all your money to yourself or spending it only on expensive wigs, dresses, and bags is only realistic if you marry an exceptionally wealthy man. The question is, how many such men are available for the number of women seeking them? You cannot leave all the financial responsibilities to a man whose salary is not even up to 500k and expect everything to be sustainable. As a woman, the day you get married, you sign up for partnership, to pool resources together with your husband to build and grow the family. If you do not want this, then it is better not to get married.

@hybeat1 @Prezain_LJ Where would he have lived in the UK if he wasn’t married, would he not still pay that rent, the issue here is the “rent” itself, like someone said get an apartment you the man can pay comfortably pay for, the woman helps with the rest

Some guys sef foolish. You dated someone for 4 years and throughout that period she never gave you any tangible gift. You went ahead to marry her and you are now complaining that she has never contributed financially to the family even when it is obvious that she’s earning good. What were you expecting before? You saw the sign but didn’t pay attention to it.
