"the Internet views censorship as damage and routes around it" - John Gilmore (cypherpunks list co-founder) the Internet, like bitcoin, is ungovernable: you can't build checkpoints, moderate content, cant stop spam via protocols. that's why hashcash exists: a market solution!

Major allegations about an Apple employee who joined OpenAI in Jan 2026, kept a laptop, found an exploit in Apple's systems and stole files over a multi-week time. This is similar to what Anthony Levandowski was accused of doing by Google back in 2018

“The planning system has strangled our mobile network and left us lagging behind developing nations.” Our Head of Operations, Jack Rowlett, spoke to The Telegraph about why Britain is still plagued by dropped calls, glitching videos and emails that won’t send. 📱

Against my will, I have been forced to learn about the Bun / Zig drama. Here's my understanding: - Bun == thing that crashes OpenCode & Claude Code - Rust == artisanal programming language for furries - Zig == even more artisanal programming language for devs who think Rust is too mainstream - Anthropic acquires Bun because machine god says so - Bun uses machine god to rewrite from Zig to Rust - Zig creator accuses Bun of selling out, going mainstream, or something - Bun still crashes Claude Code and Open Code

lol there's no window. there is a bubble, but there's no window. you would have been posting about how the Apple II (1977) is the goat but with enough resources IBM could catch up with the IBM PC (1981). The Commodore 64 dropped in 1982. The NES dropped in 1983. All those computers have less power than the touch panel controller in my cell phone. As is was for computers, as it will be for LLMs. "Mythos class" will run on a midrange laptop in 6 years. training it will be in the realm of hobbyists. This is going to be the most proliferated technology since the tamagotchi.

Ukraine vs Russia is pro vs anti-market: "only countries in which attitudes towards the ‘market economy’ are more positive than in Ukraine are Poland, the United States, the Czech Republic, South Korea, and Japan, while opinions are more negative in 30 countries. The most negative attitude towards the market economy in our survey across 36 countries was found among respondents in Russia." onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

The Free Speech Union
The Free Speech Union@SpeechUnion·
The Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, Lucy Powell, is advocating the effective censorship of social media platforms during election periods. General Secretary of the Free Speech Union, Lord Young, tells @Jacob_Rees_Mogg on @GBNEWS that this is deeply sinister and amounts to Soviet-style censorship. What Powell is proposing is greater control over what people can say on social media. The consequence of this plan would be to treat individuals posting online as though they were broadcasters. Lord Young also raises a practical question: surely these rules would apply not only to UK citizens, but also to foreign nationals. We imagine President Trump and JD Vance would have something to say about that. Watch Lord Young below 👇 x.com/gbnews/status/…

‘That is soviet levels of censorship.’ Lord Young criticises Labour’s Deputy Leader, Lucy Powell, over plans to impose restrictions on social media, warning of the US’s response to online censorship. 📺 Freeview 236, Sky 512, Virgin 604

A critical bug in the Rust clone of the “cp” command is causing Ubuntu builds to fail. In order to get Ubuntu builds to work again, the Ubuntu team decided to revert back to the GNU Coreutils version of “cp”. This came after Canonical’s VP of Engineering stated that ALL (100%) of the GNU “Coreutils” would be replaced with Rust-based (MIT licensed) clones… by the release of Ubuntu 26.10. That’s 4 months from now.

i'm a cypherpunk, and have been running nodes since 1990s. exit remailers, tor, file sharing, bitcoin nodes. p2p networks don't exist unless people with mettle run nodes. filter bippers are weak leeches, scared to p2p, demanding to censor to make nodes "safe" for the weak to run.

Asimov 1 is an open-source humanoid robot you can build and customize yourself. Two ways to get one: 1) Source the parts yourself: docs.menlo.ai/asimov/1/bom 2) Get the DIY kit: asimov.inc/diy-kit The kit bundles every part as a group buy, cheaper than sourcing one by one, and you build alongside others.
