@koolvkidd @pov_husband Thanks genius, that’s exactly my point. These dishes developed within the Ottoman context, which was largely shaped by Turkic culinary traditions. So their origin is tied to that shared Ottoman Turkish space.
English

@hypetfup @pov_husband You do know that once upon a time Armenia was apart of the Ottoman Empire ( modern day Turkey)
English

When wife thinks I can't make Armenian food. Found out the guy asking is local so invited him over to try. I think it turned out really good.
- Lula (minced lamb) kebab, steak kebab, lamb chops, chicken kebab
- Sarma (grape leaves)
- Harissa (chicken porridge)
- Manti (Armenian dumplings)
- Tabbouleh
- Armenian salad
- Muhammara (red pepper dip)
- Mutabal (eggplant dip)
- Lavash (flatbread)
- Armenian style rice pilaf
English

@namusov @pov_husband And our dolma is stuffed bell peppers so it is different and sarma is to roll and it is “close” to your tolma. It is cool that we share we have shared history, just don’t claim it is yours.
English

@namusov @pov_husband Dude I am so bored but let me explain, dolma comes from Turkish word dolmak ‘to be filled’ from that root, dolma literally means ‘stuffed’, and it spread across the Ottoman world Armenian tolma/dolma, Greek dolmades, are all adaptations of the same term.

Hard to believe it’s a coincidence that anti-Turkey voices in Europe have suddenly grown louder just as Israel has recently started targeting Turkey.

Qu’est-ce qui peut justifier que la Turquie, qui n’est pas un pays européen et qui agit souvent contre nos intérêts, reçoive autant d’argent de la part de l’Union européenne ?

"Straits aren't Turkish
Aegean isn't Turkish
Cyprus has no Turkish population
Western Thrace has no Turks
The city is called Constantinople
No dish from the Ottoman Empire is Turkish
Turks aren't humans
Turks don't exist"
and then these Malakas call Turks maximalist? LMFAO

@CA_Psychiatry @pov_husband I agree that food evolves and is shared across cultures but when a dish is essentially the same in preparation and tradition but gets rebranded under another national label, it can overshadow its historical roots and where it developed most strongly.
English

@hypetfup @pov_husband Chill, bro. Food evolves and is shared. American burgers and pizzas originated from Germany and Italy but it’s okay to call them American and use the same words.
English

@JimboKlice @pov_husband Regarding to greeks, in the international arena, representation and cultural popularity have historically been dominated by Greeks. There has also been a pattern of them basically stealing Turkish food and rebranding look into it. That’s why I specifically pointed it out
English

@JimboKlice @pov_husband Lol if you believe sarma, mantı, pilav and lavaş is fully armenian there is nothing to discuss man, you need to open a book🙏🏻
English

@Nocterman @pov_husband Dude Mantı’ is a Turkic word with Central Asian origins. ‘Pilav’ comes from Persian pilāw/polow, but the dish as prepared in video is Anatolia developed within Turkic–Ottoman cuisine. Calling something ‘Armenian’ as if it’s exclusive is a claim.
English

@hypetfup @pov_husband If it’s shared then it is armenian food.
Would be like saying Greeks can’t claim pasta because Italians make it too, or that anyone can make rice besides the Chinese.
English

@DArtsakh @SalihSanAntonio @pov_husband In Ottoman millet system many communities maintained their own religion, language, and local institutions. This is different from modern colonialism, especially the European model seen in the Americas and israel ofc where colonization is displacement of indigenous populations…
English

@DArtsakh @SalihSanAntonio @pov_husband the Ottoman Empire was a multi-ethnic state as you should know lil american weirdo foods like mantı trace back to Central Asian Turkic roots, while dishes like dolma, sarma, kebab, and lavash developed and spread across the region under Ottoman influence so they’re shared
English

@pov_husband Dude wtf Manti (Armenian dumplings) it is Turkish af also majority of the other variants of kebabs etc. No shade it is shared but it is not armenian at all lol
