Armenia does not have a right to exist as a state - no such right exists or is codified in international law. At the same time it should be made clear that while Armenia has a high-level of ethnic homogeneity this is not the result of artificial demographic regulation and Armenia as a state operates VERY differently from the legal and structural framework often used to define Israel as an ethnostate. Some basic facts to consider: Armenia is one of the most ethnically homogeneous countries in the world, with roughly 98% ethnic Armenian population. Armenian national identity is a complex mix of deeply intertwined ethnicity, religion (the Armenian Apostolic Church), and a very rich shared history & culture going back thousands of years. Both Armenia and Israel have substantive diaspora communities - although the modern Armenian Diaspora is a result of a genocide within living memory whereas the Jewish people have been a diaspora throughout the world for thousands of years. Both people (Jewish and Armenian) have experienced genocide in the last 100-120 years. The major difference being really that Armenia's homogeneity is largely a result of historical developments following its independence from the Soviet Union rather than a concerted campaign of ethnic cleansing, colonisation and disposession which resulted in the foundation of the State of Israel. Legally speaking, in Armenia, there are no categories of citizenship whereas in Israel if you are not Jewish then there is both formal and informal discrimination. Israel is established explicitly as a Jewish state whereas Armenia does not have any legalised discrimination against non-ethnic Armenians.

All things considered, it's kinda amazing Armenians still exist as a distinct people and region? If I was early enough to have been conquered by the Achamenids, Assyrians and possibly even the Akkadians I'd probably elect to go the way of the Hittites by the first thousand years

🇽🇰🇦🇲 Armenia still does not recognize Kosovo but this meeting signals a potential shift. PM Albin Kurti met PM Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan to boost trade, investment and cultural ties. Kurti also thanked Armenia for its KFOR role and stressed stronger democratic alliances.

Armenians should not serve in Congress. Neither should Somalis. Or Guatemalans. Or — wait for it— Israelis. If you are a citizen of a foreign country, you shouldn’t serve in ours. We need to pass my bill to stop the invasion of dual citizens in Congress. NOW.
