Let me put this in language the front office will understand: you gut the team in the offseason, the team you field makes you look like you are drunk behind the wheel. Several things happen: a) attendance at home matches drops which means b) merchandise sales drop and season ticket holders drop off so you c) drop ticket prices to try and capture at least some revenue. You may have trouble finding a decent permanent head coach because no one wants to drive a bus that’s careening off a cliff. And what player would want to come here without you waving stupid money at them? So you’ve now spent more than you would have had to. Meanwhile current players are demoralized and start looking to go elsewhere. So yeah. This is bad.
