Single-car qualifying on a street course: awesome idea. Watching single-car qualifying on TV when you have zero clue over the course of the lap any sense of how the car on track’s time compares to the current leader: much less satisfying an experience.

Stat nugget: Since the hybrid was introduced, Andretti cars have advanced to RD2 of qualifying in 15/18 attempts on street circuits. 2 of those 3 misses were at St. Pete this year. 11 of 15 advanced from Q2 to the Fast6, including 4 poles in 6 races. #INDYCAR

@WorldWideWob Did you really go full 5 page essay on this? All those words and somehow missing all sorts of context & nuance. Sad stuff.

And this right here, what just happened in Indiana, is why making an example of the Jazz was a short-sighted decision/slippery slope. 1) Zubac returns to action from extended time off, plays heavy 1H minutes. Looks good scoring 8 PTS (4-6 FG). 2) Nembhard drops 23 PTS (!) in the 1H in just 17 mins. They both disappear at halftime, and dont play a single 2H second in what was a respectably close game for a majority of it. Pacers (a team with losing incentive) lose. Sound familiar? The franchise comms team will likely issue an injury management explanation to avoid the eye of Secaucus Sauron/refute the imminent tanking allegations. Is it possible both players got sore in the locker room/hurt in the first half? Sure, I guess. The point here is that by fining the Jazz for conduct detrimental to the league, NOT (⬅️) a Player Participation Policy violation, your games are now going to be under the microscope in the event this type of starter rotation activity occurs again. You can’t just fine one franchise and hang their reputation from a tree to scare the other citizens from replicating the same behavior. That selective enforcement is what put you in the spotlight originally, because Jaren Jackson Jr./Lauri Markkanen ended up either getting surgery or having a legitimate hip injury keeping them out for the foreseeable future. Nembhard/Zubac may end up experiencing something similar to JJJ/Markkanen, they may not, but the inconsistent enforcement WITHOUT knowing their personal medical records is reflective of a business that only steps in when the seat gets hot. The Jazz ended up winning some of those games they were so highly scrutinized for. The Pacers lost tonight. This alone does not justify penalizing the Pacers, because Micah Potter was trying to win just as much as Brice Sensabaugh was for Utah. Players dont tank. If you’re not going to fine the Pacers for this tonight, then just give the Jazz governors their $500,000 back, because this hypocrisy is what’s damaging the league reputation more than the integrity of the game.

3. This same account threw this stat out less than a year ago, but the number was 1. So, now the total is 6, with 5 lead changes in the last 8 races. That’s a much different stat. Just like short oval racing is much different than road and street course racing.

Here we go again… 1. Yes, the hybrid is too heavy. 2. Typically, the leader is one of the best drivers in one of the best cars. They should be & will be difficult to pass, no? I would prefer that to whatever awkward dance F1 did last week or NASCAR pit maneuvers for the lead.⬇️

There were 7 on-track lead changes in the IndyCar race at Phoenix, unrelated to pitstops In the 15 IndyCar road/street course races since introducing the Hybrid in July 2024, there have been 6 on-track lead changes. All others have been through pit stops The six lead changes:

After a banger of a race last weekend, #INDYCAR keeps it rolling with a fresh new street circuit. I don’t know what’s gonna happen but I do plan on winning. See all my bets in the @ApexInsiders discord.

@Oilpressureblog @jakequery It was a cool surprise but I also didn’t like it for the reason that they did it on the parade lap. That is the one time of the day we get to thank the drivers for the badass display they are about to put on & they get to take it in. All that moment was shifted to the helicopters

@jakequery I did not like the low-flying helicopters during the pre-race ceremonies for last year’s Indianapolis 500. And I hope they never do it again.

@GrinchLaw Brother. Amen. The first time it hit, I thought I had a stress fracture in my foot. The second time I hit, I was sure my foot was actually broken this time even after knowing what gout felt like.
