@twhit78 @jeff_gluck The current tv deal is massive revenue wise it’s not set up for growth exactly tv wise. We are being used to prop up other channels If the sport can get national coverage consistently like it has the last 3 weeks plus sponsorship promotion at a national level, we will grow

@twhit78 @jeff_gluck Because nascar has lost 70% viewership from the peak (most of any sport) and a lot of decisions get made based off of ratings because that’s how sponsorship packages are valued and sold. We need growth to open up opportunities in the sport again. Jim has focused more on cutting

NASCAR got an average viewership of 3.9 million for the Cup race at COTA (4.1 million last year). O'Reilly race got 1.07 million (1.1 million last year). Truck race at St. Pete got 1 million viewers -- biggest number on the Fox network (not FS1) since 2018. IndyCar got 1.4 million at St. Pete (1.42 million last year).

@JosefMiele Raptor is a product owned by Axalta. Axalta merged with AkzoNobel where Axalta now has a 45% stake. My assumption is there is a rebrand coming and they just went with Raptor for this year with the patriotic scheme as a placeholder until it’s decided what’s next.

@Zoniax73 @DigitalGashouse A lot of issues could be fixed if they didn’t pace for 30 minutes. Idk why they don’t just freeze the field more often with a red later in races. I see why they do it early. Stop on the back stretch, open the pits as they come off of 4 and then in 2 laps they’re back green.

@DigitalGashouse If a caution comes out in the last 5 laps on big tracks, 10 laps on intermediates, and 15 laps on short tracks, the lap count is frozen when a caution comes out

Championship format fixed ✅ Now NASCAR needs to work on implementing a more straightforward OT/last lap caution procedure. This needs to be fixed before we get yet another pig-slop Daytona 500 finish. #NASCAR

@koop_designs05 I’m bothered nascar execs were still hung up on 3-3-4 but luckily that’s not what happened. Maybe this sets the foundation for full season in a few years like Mark Martin was getting at in the press conference. The ground work to get back to the basics seems to have been laid

@koop_designs05 I get it as a Gordon fan but it sounds like full season was not on the table as contracts were not going to give in to that. This at least establishes a simplified identity again which was needed. Yes, I would have liked a full season deal but this beats 3-3-4

@daletanhardt Unfortunately the city of Daytona likes the fall date due to Daytona has tourism already for July 4th and the fall date is an incentive to drive traffic at a time where traffic would be slower. I doubt it moves back but if it does, we need Pepsi to come back and sponsor it

Another thought after the NASCAR format announcement: This makes me believe Daytona fall will be moved back to Daytona July as early as next year.

@bryanblack33 I was rooting for full season btw. I’m hoping the two marketing groups Phelps hired before he left can deliver.

@bryanblack33 Star power is going to built with brands pushing the drivers like Pepsi and Bud did with Gordon and Jr getting them into mainstream public eyes. The simplified format is a brand identity thing that we desperately needed to return to back to basics and help with the core base.

@TeamKFBfan8 @NASCAR No format is the fix for a 70% viewership loss but establishing a brand identity again of making it simple is a positive start. Pepsi, Budweiser and many other top global brands used to push the drivers and that is gone now. NASCAR and others must help push drivers today.

This is scary…look what happened the first time @NASCAR introduced the Chase. The sport can’t afford to falloff like this again, let’s hope it works this time.

@CouchRacerShop Overall the sport has much more work to do on the car and with the brand identity issues. I really have appreciated the honesty from O’Donnell in the last few months. Today didn’t feel like corporate talk. They were all just honest about the process and mistakes. I like that

@CouchRacerShop I’m shocked we got this much of a compromise. I was team 36 but this is good also. I kinda wish they’d make stages 5-4-3-2-1 for points though. I don’t like how the winner gets 55 but 2nd place with two stage wins is also 25 points. Winner should always have most points.

The leadership group understands the issues so they need to find common ground to address it. My guess is it would be a min/max spend range because the top teams have an issue with the guys at the bottom and vice versa

Denny has nothing to do with that. Jim would have to make that call.
