@anandmahindra You have time to write stories and able to reply to the messages of ur stories,but don't have time to reply to me & ur customers and u don't have to focus on wts my problem,why customers firing at you,what the bledy happening in ur delivery system,nothing, simply dabba,show off.

My grandfather, J.C. Mahindra, trained as an engineer at Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai, & the large part of his subsequent career was in the steel industry, including a stint working at Tata Steel.
During World War II, he went on to serve as India’s first Iron & Steel Controller, building relationships across global mills. Those connections later helped him and his brother, K.C. Mahindra, build a trading business that evolved into manufacturing, bringing in Willys Jeeps and International Harvester tractors to India.
Growing up, I would occasionally hear my father and uncle refer to J.C. as a “tinkerer”… someone who had even held a patent.
But it was always vague, never quite part of the Group’s folklore.
Perhaps that’s not surprising. For decades, we hadn’t systematically organised our archives and memorabilia.
Yesterday was World Intellectual Property Day.
Last week, Vaidehi Mayekar, Senior Manager at our company, who is helping organise the archives, sent me a mail in the context of the forthcoming World IP Day.
While going through all the random boxes of files & memorabilia, she had come across a document about a patent filed by J.C. in 1918… and assumed I would already know.
I didn’t.
And when I learned it was in internal combustion engine technology, I was genuinely stunned.
It may not have been a seminal or earth-shaking patent, but somehow, that part of his story had slipped through the cracks of family narratives.
At the very least, it ought to have been a strong part of the institutional ‘memory’ of a Group that makes automobiles.
Thank you Vaidehi , for giving me a renewed sense of pride & a fresh dose of motivation from my grandfather.
I hope it also gives engineers across the group the motivation to continue a legacy of innovation.

Recognition by TIME magazine, naming Mahindra among the world’s 50 Best Companies is meaningful in itself.
But when our team unearthed this clip from our 2012 leadership conference (where I refer to the Group aspiration we articulated in 2011), it made this milestone both extraordinarily satisfying and humbling.
At our 2011 annual leadership conference in Mumbai, we held a town hall with 500 leaders, which I co-moderated with Arun Maira, then a member of the Planning Commission. The objective was to ‘co-create’ a shared, time-bound vision for the Group.
I recall we floated several ideas. Given that this was a mission with a deadline, unlike our enduring Core Purpose of ‘Rise,’ I expected the room to lean toward a financial target. Perhaps a revenue milestone or a market cap goal.
They did exactly the opposite.
They argued that even a time-bound ambition should be of a higher order; something that would make them want to come to work every day.
The collective view was simple: if we aspired to become one of the world’s most admired companies, the numbers would follow.
To paraphrase a now well-known expression: when you truly want something (good) the universe conspires to help you achieve it.
The horizon we set was ten years. We overshot it by a few. But to have achieved what we once called an ‘outrageous ambition’ is deeply fulfilling.
So yes, perhaps the universe did play its part.
But in truth, this recognition belongs to our associates who carried that aspiration forward, quietly and consistently, building with purpose every day.
And finally, our gratitude to our customers across all our companies, who have, quite simply, been the wind beneath our wings.

In Kerala, apparently you can now call a coconut harvester the same way you book a cab.
A uniformed professional arrives on a cycle, equipped, trained, and ready to work.
We often speak about India’s services economy in terms of IT exports or global capability centres.
But we’re digitising even our most traditional, hyper-local services.
There was another detail from this video that stayed with me.
The young man who climbed those trees was from Chhattisgarh.
When I began my career in our Group’s steel business, many of of our associates working in our furnace and foundry shops had come from states like Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, travelling far from home in search of opportunity.
Today, it seems those same aspirations are finding avenues not just in heavy industry, as in the past, but in new-age, tech-enabled services.
People moving, adapting and rising are a powerful economic force.
And also a force for integration.
As long as they’re welcomed by the host states!
