I checked in with my friends at Meta to see how AI is reshaping the PM team. What I found is a story I usually only hear at hot startups: endless meetings, reviews, and docs giving way to PMs coding, less process, and far more opinion than I saw in my four years there. So I asked my good friend @jagjitchawla to discuss on the the Skip podcast. A ton of great insights: ◆ VPs used to spend hours reviewing status. Now an AI agent he wrote reads every code change, email, and doc overnight and hands him a punch list before the team logs on ◆ The products got better too — agents triage tens of thousands of bug reports a day and ship the fixes ◆ AI broke things too — site incidents climbed, so they built safeguard agents to vet changes before they ship ◆ Ideas got cheap, so judgment is the bottleneck ◆ The generalists are back — his strongest PMs are economists and physicists, not ex-engineers ◆ It's all homegrown — no vendor, no mandate, built by the teams themselves, some in a single evening ◆ The rollout was deliberate — Meta canceled a full week of meetings, then named "AI captains" by function ◆ Zero-to-one still starts at the whiteboard ◆ What AI doesn't replace: people fall in love with people, not projects You can replicate most of this with little budget and not much effort. Ten years in, Rippling is still shipping big new things. If you're an enterprise customer, this is the safest kind of company to buy from. They're energetic enough that you know you'll get the latest tech, but you also know they won't just disappear.

@jasonlk just reaffirms the thing we already know - investor don’t like uncertainty whether its war or AI or SaaS pricing . SaaS is here to stay, need to switch the business model - simlar to how AWS undercut initial years and everyone’s AWS bill is more that own data center

@mukund nope..I think CS will still remains relevant, but no longer "the" thing.. it has happened to many fields before Mechanical engg to begin..

This too shall pass. They will all come back when they realize AI needs more CS but different CS people

@JayaGup10 No Enterprise would use it as a way to do/come up with "fun" things unless its free. The "value" enterprises will buy is: can it reduce my cost while improving the productivity..and thats about it. Prove it or F*off.

The unfortunate part is that before some of the massive enterprises get going, they are seeing that other industry first movers are already harping about cost / efficiency Which means they will buy it like a metered utility vs a platform to be creative and explore and come up with fun things

I just interviewed a CEO who said three things that blew my mind: 1. We replaced our $600K Salesforce contract with a vibe-coded CRM, built within 3 weeks. 2. We will get rid of 80% of the SaaS we use internally. 3. If Anthropic doubled pricing, we would not change usage in any way.
