DC Fire Fighters Association, Local 36 retweetledi

Our firefighters put their lives on the line to protect our communities every day and it is imperative that we stand with them and our public workforce to ensure they are properly paid and have fair benefits. It is unacceptable that the budget removes funding set-asides for future collective bargaining agreements including for our firefighters.
Our firefighters have waited for a collective bargaining agreement that provides wages to keep up with the rising cost of living and as the budget is now with the Council, we must prioritize this funding for our first responders.
These workforce investment funds for collective bargaining agreements and non-union pay increases could be funded with revenues currently being held back by the Office of the Chief Financial Officer. I will be working with my colleagues to prioritize funding for collective bargaining agreements and non-union pay increases this budget.
