In the 1957 Miss Ghana Pageant Contest, Miss. Monica Amekoafia represented the Volta Region and she was contestant Number 9.
She won the contest and her number ‘9’ became very popular as she was referred to as Number 9. She’s from Alavanyo in the Volta Region.
In 2022, I took this photo of her grave in Alavanyo.
