@JasonD60 @MDMDmydecision That is CPS data. I give up. There is no discussion to be had when you deny basic facts. All the best to you and yours.

@JasonD60 @MDMDmydecision You have avoided the question. Regardless of whether the law has so far struck the right balance or not, should these 8 cases have been investigated or not?

@JasonD60 @MDMDmydecision Before you answer, remember 8 relatives of those who went to Switzerland for AD have been charged with homicide or other serious crimes.... Should they have been investigated or not?

@iamdrmarklee @MDMDmydecision The quote relates specifically to people investigated and potentially prosecuted for accompanying someone to Switzerland for an assisted death, at a time when they are understandably upset at losing a loved-one. Is that an acceptable status-quo?

The misinformation spread about Canada's MAiD is relentless. Opponents shamefully use the demonisation of Canada to deflect the discussion away from the bill in hand. @TonyMarra_1 is certainly not the only Canadian disgusted by the misinformation surrounding MAiD.

@thevicarswife His sister was also a campaigner for AS and lived here and went to Dignitas. Separate of his behaviour, his staunch defence of Canada and promotion of Canadian MAID sits somewhat awkwardly with DiD and Bill supporters saying “Ignore Canada that’s an outlier and not relevant”

@JasonD60 @TonyMarra_1 @jamesdownar That is not my assumption but under the NHS constitution if it is a 'treatment' we have to offer it. That was the basis on which KL made the statement. Re - self administration it still requires prescribed by a doctor.

@iamdrmarklee @TonyMarra_1 @jamesdownar Why do you assume it can only be negligence if classified as "treatment"? Also, since it's self-administered, the "guilty" party would likely be the patient themselves.

@JasonD60 @TonyMarra_1 @jamesdownar It is certainly the assumption of the Bill at the very least. Leadbeater has made it clear under the current Bill that if a doctor did not offer AD and the patient had a difficult unassisted death then there would be grounds for negligence. This can only be if AD is a treatment.

@JasonD60 @TonyMarra_1 @jamesdownar Thank you. I have read this report. Can you find the the complication rates? If, as many believe, this is a treatment how should I counsel my patients regarding complications (as I am legally obliged to do with any treatment)? Genuine question.

@JasonD60 @TonyMarra_1 @jamesdownar Yet again you have provided no evidence. You're just trying to 'bait' people. You give no evidence to argue against. I am trying to have a discussion yet you resort to some sort of stereotype ("palliative care docs") like we are all the same. It is just lazy.

@iamdrmarklee @TonyMarra_1 @jamesdownar There is always evidence if you choose to seek it and don't "forget" it. Opposed palliative care docs are bad at the former and good at forgetting when it comes to receiving assisted dying information which doesn't support their narrative.

I finally got a bed at 3am 💤 The oncology ward was completely full, so it took a while to find me somewhere. The staff have been absolutely wonderful, especially considering how busy A&E was. It’s been a very long day (and night). Now just waiting to find out what’s going on, and really hoping I can get home soon #LivingWithCancer
