I was brainstorming this two days ago. Have people tried? Are people trying? I don’t see any effort from labs, research teams, or anything. India launched their lab not too long ago. China has loads. Europe has too. But nothing from Africa. We can’t possibly be building just fintechs. It has to be a joke.

@dammieololade @bolaabanjo Spot on. I haven’t had much positive experience in the NG/African VC space. This constraint forces us to innovate, which can be a good thing. My recommendation is to go after foreign capital first.

@bolaabanjo Yes we still have time, I think funding might be what's killing us. An average Nigerian investor is not going to invest in something where he's not sure if he's going to get 10x ROI in a year or 2. Nigerian investors are not vision driven. @iamtemibabs what do you think?

Yup. We’d have it support every African model that we know of (@YarnGPT_ai, @spitch_app etc) It’s going to be soo cool.

Universities need to start reducing the length of degree programs; 4 years is too long now.

@spitch_app and @YarnGPT_ai have built really great TTS & STT models for our local languages : Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa and Nigerian English This helps for Transcription, Speech Generation, Translation and Tone Marking

In the new version of Xara, we’ve improved voice notes so it can accurately capture account numbers even when you interrupt, like I did in this video while giving feedback to the person calling out the number. It also understands spoken local dialects better. As you can see, I’m speaking Yoruba and it still gets it right. Try it out!
