@mjovanovictech I’d sign the codes (even if you just truncate to 4-8 characters) so you can quickly verify if the code is valid or not without having to hit the DB or cache.

How would you improve the performance of URL redirects? In the code snippet, we first fetch a shortened URL from the database. If it exists, we redirect the user. If not, they get back a 404 Not Found.

@SnazzyLabs @markgurman A 25W USB-C phone charger is still going to charge your MacBook Pro 14” from empty to full in 3 hours. It has a 24h battery life. While it’s nice to have something larger, it’s still totally appropriate.

@markgurman It’s 2025. USB C-PD chargers have come bundled with Apple devices for a decade and you can buy one for a trivial amount of money if you don’t have one. They dropped the price 100€. There’s nothing more they could have or should have done.

But, to be clear, I find the law completely ridiculous. MacBooks require special chargers and can’t get away with any off the shelf component or a friend’s charger like a phone can.

@mweinbach You see there is are also other factors, gamers value performance per dollar too. MacBooks are great devices but for gaming a Nvidia based laptop cannot be beaten

This may be a joke, but uh... I think it's true, but the limiting factor is not only game support, but game support with properly made Metal 3 games Cyberpunk 2077 with proper Metal 3 plays so well on the MacBook Pro. Best laptop gaming experience on the market imo

im building the best next.js stack to ever exist i just found out cloudflare workers natively support long-running websocket connections - extremely cheap - reliable af & fully serverless - zero infra to manage you can setup real-time next.js in literally seconds

Aurora DSQL is very neat. Some interesting tradeoffs there. Will be very curious to see pricing + latency comparisons across standard Aurora (or Aurora Limitless), esp. if not using multi-region. I wonder how AWS will position the various SQL options. Which will be recommended for standard workloads?

tech challenge time. Imagine you can’t use AWS or Cloudflare. You need a CDN, WAF with rate limiting and want it to be reasonably priced. Bonus points if they’re SOC 2 etc. Who are you using?

@theburningmonk LOL. I got a quota increase on one account to have 500 buckets today and was surprised it was changed right away. Guess I should have asked for a lot more.
