It's plausible that a wife knows more about a husband's crimes than she's letting on. It's also plausible that a wife has been betrayed by a husband living a secret life. One thing's for definite: no one will solve it on twitter. Arguing about it on social media is pointless.

I expect she knows more than letting on, but with those wages it won’t have been 2 difficult for him to hide his spending from her.

Now Peter Murrell pled guilty, I can tell you without contempt of court Alex Salmond told me this: when Murrell ran Alex' office in NE Scotland 20+ years ago, Murrell stole a sum from party funds. Alex replaced it with his own money and protected Murrell who had problems. I told Alex his kindness was admirable and covering for Murrell I understood, but continuing to employ him was nuts. I do not doubt Alex was telling me the truth but obviously I can offer no proof. If memory serves it was £500 - a substantial sum at the time.

Alex is no longer with us sadly, Nicola is no longer in politics, her ex is in a cell for embezzling SNP money. That's the past. Let the unionists and the media rattle marbles in a can. Independence is in front of us, it always has been, and that's all that interests me.

Sturgeon wants us to believe that she was incapable of reading a balance sheet - the published SNP accounts showed indisputably that the money had gone missing. Now maybe Sturgeon really couldn’t read a balance sheet - but what about Swinney? He cannot credibly use that excuse.

The real victims of Murrell’s crimes are the ordinary Independence Supporters who gave their hard earned cash to the SNP with the express purpose of furthering the cause of independence. They will want to know how their donations could have been embezzled for so long without 1/6
