A privilege to support Cdr Mike Norman OBE AFC, XO of HMS SHEFFIELD when it was sunk during the Falklands War. A wreath was laid and a service held in quiet remembrance of those who gave everything. We will remember them.

It’s about (re) connecting Veterans who are Villa fans, who now may be geographically dislocated, with their club. This in turns grows our fan base with their families etc. it’s more complex than just a discount.

I agree with the other points made underneath my post too, elderly & children also shouldn’t be charged extortionate prices but losing the community feel seems the way modern football has gone. We always owe our veterans a thank you and this is a minimal one

@Piloto_Steve @RobertClark87 Utter nonsense. I was on ACSC with many of the afore mentioned Pilots, Navs and even aircrew and the current CDS was head and shoulders more capable than any of them.

@RobertClark87 If CDS is going to be RAF it should be Pilot, a Nav even aircrew of some sort but all with frontline squadron experience, not engineers and not blanket stackers.

Just a brief example of some of the waste in military spending in the UK.
In the USA they have 219 Generals for 480,000 soldiers.
In the UK we have 211 Generals for 73,000 soldiers.
Completely and irresponsibly top heavy.
I do remind people that the British Army is still the public sector.
It’s basically the local council with guns.

If you make a joke at the Army's or Navy's expense, they don't get offended.
If you make a joke that merely references the RAF (don't even have to make them the punchline) you soon learn that Crabs can be split into two camps. The first get very upset, the second are good eggs.

On the tired trope of 'the Navy has more Admirals than ships', I'd like to point out the RAF has far more Squadron Leaders than there are Squadrons that need leading.

@hawkins_carole @GenGJenkinsRM That’s why there’s only 3 available, they’ve been having power plant work done to avoid what you describe..which is why Duncan didn’t break down while shooting down missiles aimed at shipping last year. Shame people make stupid comments based on outdated info.

@TomSharpe134 Blimey, it sounds like you are advocating that 1SL, as the only remaining 4* post within the Naval Service, should be tied Dark Blue if the RN doesn’t hold any Joint or Combined 4* Posts. You will be telling me next that only a Warfare Officer can fulfill the post 😉
