At last night's City Council meeting Order 24-12, the proposal to adopt the Specialized Energy Code, passed 10-1. The effective date is July 1, 2024. The vote makes Melrose the 31st municipality to opt into the new code. #MelroseMA #mapoli

To be clear I do not blame the Zoning Board at all for this. They have been put in an incredibly difficult position to try and adjudicate between the city's crappy zoning code and the reality of modern housing construction. Our Planning Dept and City Council need to do better.
