Kier Starmer was visiting a very small village in the UK, and asked the villagers what the government could do for them. "We have two big needs" said the village spokesman. "First, we have a health centre, but no doctor." Starmer whipped out his mobile phone, spoke for a while and then said "I've sorted it out. A doctor will arrive here tomorrow. What is your other need then?" "We have no mobile phone reception at all in our village."

@katharinemerry might have been good for athletes but terrible for spectators. Had Category 1 seats by pit couldn’t see any of back straight and home straight not visible because of safety rail. AWFUL
Katharine Merry@KatharineMerry

Much talk about the horizontal jumping surface in Rome. Time will tell. The next competition for those athletes will be telling : & still so much time left in the season. But what can’t be taken away is the confidence those jumps have given the athletes! Priceless.

@WightmanGeoff @TimAdams76 @AthleticsWeekly We had worst Category 1 seats in the house, close to long jump pit but temporary structure meant could not see any of back straight. Back tonight in same place but think European Athletics royally ripping off fans.
Tim Adams@TimAdams76

Second night at the European Championships and while there are still tens of thousands of empty seats, it’s more full than last night. Olympic 100m champion Marcell Jacobs races in front of a home crowd later on. Hopefully people actually turn out for him.

If what you her from McNamara made you feel angry, I’m not surprised, I do too One lesson we must surely take from this is that an old boy’s club is the worst way to run a country. Good govt doesn’t just need competence, it needs female & diverse perspectives at very top too

@Peston How can a council run up £1 .9bn in debts

With IMPORTANT correction. Woking Council has debts of £1.9bn and spending power of just £14m (!) - staggering recklessness. Which is why the government has today appointed commissioners to run the council. This was a Tory Council when the unsustainable liabilities were taken on. The Levelling Up Dept and minister Lee Rowley considers “that this is, based on current evidence, the most challenging financial position of any local authority in England”.

Today, nobody needs to hear Tories talking about “getting on with the job”; “listening” or “delivering the people’s priorities.” They’ve been hammered because they’re done NONE of that. We’re taxed to high heaven and nothing works. Bye bye!

How could ANYONE say that the Framework agreement has changed anything fundamental in the Protocol It has imbedded EU law and court even more to break NI from the rest of the U.K. No Unionist can return to Stormont to implement the break up of the Union Belfast/GFA is broken
GB News@GBNEWS

'Not a single European Union law that applies to Northern Ireland under the protocol will be removed by the Windsor Framework.' Barrister specialising in EU law Martin Howe QC joins @Jacob_Rees_Mogg to discuss the 'extremely restrictive' aspects of The Windsor Framework.
