Rented a car a couple months back, and noticed a huge dent.
Took a photo of it, pointed it out to the guy who handed me the keys, and he noted it.
Couple weeks later email from the rental company.
It says I damaged the car, with a photo attached - of the exact same dent!
Nobody to email or call, so I head back to the place that rented me the car.
I explain the situation to the manager, show him the photo and email, and he quick apologizes.
Tells me he’ll take care of it. End of story? No.
Today I get a letter in the mail stating the investigation has been concluded, and that I’m at fault - along with a bill.
Great.
@Daily_MailUS@sixtespana@SixtDE have multiple reviews of fake damages. Please read these reviews before making a final decision to rent. Sixt also has an F on the better business bureau website and the recently settled a class action lawsuit

As expected have not heard anything via email or call. After dealing with @sixtespana@SixtCar I can honestly say this is the worst company to deal with with respect to any company (car rental or not). To those who see this post please read reviews from various car renters, the Better business bureau ( they have an F rating with multiple complaints), their recent class action lawsuit they settled, and various review websites before making a decision with such a scummy company @Tripadvisor@NerdWallet@ClarkHoward
Do not rent cars from @thriftycars. It’s a fraud company that will charge you for things once you put your card down and point at contracts once you try to reclaim your money. I got charged for 3 child seats, and some other random stuff, adding 474 $ on top of a 100 $ rental.
@ClarkHoward@CRAdvocacy@JimBrowning11 wanted to make you as a consumer advocate and others traveling abroad to Europe in general and in Spain in particular. @sixtespana@SixtUSA
Be careful and read reviews
This sixt has claimed unsubstantiated damages to one of my rentals and this is a recurring problem across their branches. I have video and photographs that are time stamped showing how i returned the car and they claimed damages without allowing me to send them my video and photos. They have provided me with multiple numbers to call which lead nowhere and their email claims-es@sixt.com is never answers
Please read others experience before making a decision to rent at SIXT. They recently settled a class action lawsuit and have an F on the BBB. Please be careful

@sixtespana@ClarkHoward@SixtCar Again. No help. Can you just send me a link woth a way to pay this off. This is ridiculous. You are definitely the worst company to deal with. No wonder BBB has rated you an F
Hertz’s AI is flagging fake rental car “damage” and slapping customers with huge fees for scratches that aren’t real. After months of tracking the outrage, Clark says he’s done booking with them—here’s why. - youtu.be/1cB1w83-knE
@sixtespana@ClarkHoward@SixtCar I have sent requests to tha email MULTIPLE times. I have also tried to contact you via phone at +34 971 704960 AND +34 971 126 877 and NO ONE ever picks up. There is no voicemail and there is no automated system. Please provide me with a way to contact you that works
@ibadiolamd@ClarkHoward@SixtCar Hi Ignacio,
We are really sorry to hear about the incidence you had with us.
Please send all the details to claims-es@sixt.com and we will check it again.
Best regards
Update: Sixt has now replied. It took a lot of contact requests. I will cooperate — but my core issue remains the same: I previously notified them multiple times that I have clear video evidence showing no damage at return and was never given any way to submit it, and my written requests went unanswered. I’ve again asked for a formal method to upload evidence and for pre-rental inspection photos and documentation. I’ll share updates so other renters understand how these damage claim reviews are actually handled. If you’ve had a similar experience, I’d appreciate hearing about it. @SixtUSA
I typically don’t write reviews but I really want to get the word out so that others are aware when they make their rental decisions.
I’m currently disputing a Sixt damage claim I did not cause. I have video proving the car was undamaged, but they refuse to review it. They have completely ignored any contact attempts. Aware of their prior $11M class action for unsupported damage.

Reporting to BBB, US & EU agencies. I’d like to hear if others have had similar experiences.

Travelers renting cars should be aware that @SixtCar currently holds an F rating from the Better Business Bureau. Worth reviewing before booking and comparing options. Transparency and documentation matter with damage claims and billing disputes. I’m linking the BBB profile below so others can review directly.

@lisasiber@OfficialJaskoYT In my case @SixtCar won’t even allow me to send them. If it was just me it would be one thing. But this has been reported multiple times.
I rented a car through SIXT in Florida yesterday and they opened a damage claim against me for damage on the bumper. The damage was there before I rented and I documented it at the location. Tell me how the claims department says “well, only 4 people rented the car before you and they didn’t report damage so it couldn’t have been them”
I’m genuinely appalled. I have picture and video proof and they’re still pinning it on me. Wild stuff
