Alright, I just blocked a LOT of "No Disc, No Buy" spam accounts. Most of them have fewer than 10 followers, and all they seem to do is jump into people's replies and spam the exact same 3 images over and over again. At that point, this isn't a conversation or a protest. It's just harassment and spam aimed at people who are simply trying to chill, play games, and talk about them. I'm not planning to deal with this every day until 2028. 😂 I probably can't block them all, but I'll do my best. I genuinely don't care if you play on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, or your phone. @SantoryuStar Nothing wrong with that & nothing wrong with boycotting them either. Plenty of other options out there. Personally as a Switch 1+2 and PC gamer I’ve been waiting for a reason to upgrade my PS4. Now I’m happy to not give them a penny. If we’re going all digital pc is better.

I know that hating the PlayStation brand is completely justified right now but I've decided to just enjoy what I have and buy what I want how I want while I still have a choice. Pre-ordered a couple games on Amazon, got PS+ Premium, and will be having a damn fine weekend.

@xMBGx 0/10. Long time PS3/4 fan. Haven’t had much time to game since becoming a dad. I was gonna finally buy a PS5 for my birthday in August. News of ceasing disc production cooled me off. If I’m gonna invest in digital games it’s gonna be on PC where digital is way superior.

At this point, I think it's time to accept reality. Sony isn't going to reverse course because of the backlash, no matter how loud it gets. Believe me, I wasn't happy about it myself. In fact, I was furious when the news first broke. I grew up with physical games, starting way back with cartridges on the SEGA Master System II, so seeing physical media slowly disappear is something that genuinely saddens me. But after taking a step back, I honestly think this shift was inevitable. The writing has been on the wall for years with digital downloads, digital-only consoles and changing buying habits. Just look at PC gaming, physical discs have all but disappeared, with the vast majority of games now bought digitally through storefronts such as Steam. Whether we like it or not, the console market has been heading in the same direction for quite some time. That doesn't mean we have to like it, and there's nothing wrong with continuing to support physical media while it's still around. But we also have to accept that the industry is moving in a different direction, whether we agree with it or not. That said, if Sony is truly going all-in on digital, then consumers deserve something in return. The cost savings from no longer manufacturing, packaging and distributing physical games should be reflected in lower digital prices and better value for players. More importantly, digital ownership needs to evolve. If I'm paying full price for a game or film, I should genuinely own it, not simply purchase a licence with restrictions attached. While games that you've bought are usually still available to download even if they're later delisted, consumers are ultimately relying on the platform holder to maintain access. We should be moving towards a system where legitimately purchased digital content is protected for the long term, giving people the same confidence and permanence they've always had with physical media. It's not the future the majority of us wanted, but it increasingly looks like the future we're getting.
