Most of the times expats comes from countries where the NGOs and/or most Donor HQs are based with better connection to the financial sources and key decisions-makers, while local workers have little to none influence in improving their salaries and benefits.

Many local workers are well-educated and highly experienced (plus have a local knowledge and multilingual). However, most of us still received a fraction of what expats earns, not to mention all the benefits we didn't get. Why do expats earn more? theguardian.com/global-develop…

@AlecBMMoore @jen_pytka Sure! Thanks @AlecBMMoore, I am working with this rays for years, not so much attention. Currently doing PhD with wedgefish, hopefully can help lift up conservation attention in general for less fancy species for the next few years 🤞
