Like many others, the Charlie Kirk murder has been very dark time for me, but a small ray of light emerged this week too.
Six weeks ago, an relatively unknown artist @SaedKh8 sent me a nice message telling me they appreciated me collecting their Fake Commons work several years ago via XCP dispenser and told me they had submitted a @punk6529 meme card. I remembered the good vibes on XCP during that time and it always helps when someone is part of the @Darkfarms1 Smowl family.
Their meme card had been up for voting for over a month but had received only 500,000 TDH votes. I checked out the meme and really liked the art and concept so I put 9M TDH on the card to give it more exposure among the hundreds of submissions.
It bounced around the Top 10-20 for several weeks, then Top 5, then Top 3. During the last week of the 6529 season, @Darkfarms1 submitted a fantastic Meme card. Despite my love for the doodle master and Saed also encouraging me to support DF, I kept all my votes with Saed. In the last days, I eventually dusted off some other ledgers and put a total of 17M towards Saed's card to give it a final push.
Saed's card was selected this week as the final meme card of the season receiving 104M votes - just shy of @lphaCentauriKid record 105M votes. incredible!
I recognize the newly formed voting bloc among several 6529 community members pushed this card to top at the very end and I am thankful for their support of Saed's submission.
I look for a good person + good art when buying art. To do this, you have to pay attention and have your own taste. It is not a scientific endeavor.
We often hear this phrase "we must support small artists" imo, we shouldn't support out of sympathy or gender or style of art or perceived social clout - it has to be about the art otherwise the support simply isn't genuine. You also have to divorce yourself of thinking "will others like it and will others buy it"
As always - trust your gut, show conviction and be your own cabal. 🫂❤️
