This whole CFB/Qubic saga seems like a total nothingburger to me.
It's like the Craig Wright of Monero, somebody is feeding on attention. Best way to deal with it is to ignore it.
Orphaned blocks are totally normal in PoW blockchains and even if you create more by having a lot of hash power it's pretty meaningless. The network was designed to handle orphaned blocks and you just deprive yourself of the mining rewards you would get by building on the latest block.
Even with 51% or more of the hash power you cannot break consensus rules, no node would accept the block.
To actually do a double spend you would need to reverse a few blocks and that becomes exponentially harder, it's described right there in the original Bitcoin whitepaper.
People think the world is ending if somebody gets 51% or more of the hash power, but that's simply not the case.
