ICRISAT successfully organized a series of one-day trainings on “Poshan Se Samruddhi” from 30 April to 2 May 2026, at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Manpur, supported by the Agriculture Department of Bihar (@Agribih). A total of 94 farmers, including 31 women from three districts—Nawada, Gaya, and Nalanda in Bihar—participated, building skills across the millet value chain from production to consumption. Conducted under the guidance of Dr Padmaja Ravula, Principal Scientist, ICRISAT, as part of the #Bihar Center of Excellence for Millet Value Chains, the sessions highlighted the role of millets in nutrition, climate resilience, and livelihoods. Farmers gained practical insights through interactive discussions and hands-on demonstrations.

ICRISAT, through the Odisha Agricultural Drought Mitigation Project (OADMP), in partnership with the National Disaster Management Authority (@ndmaindia) and the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of #Odisha (@krushibibhag), initiated two impactful field initiatives in April 2026. A geo-referenced soil sampling drive covered 1,850 samples in #Nabarangpur and #Nuapada, using real-time digital tools to enable precise, site-specific fertilizer recommendations and address key soil nutrient gaps. Aerobic composting was introduced in both districts, with 750 farm-level demonstrations per district, converting crop residues into nutrient-rich compost to improve soil organic carbon, enhance soil fertility, and support carbon sequestration. Capacity-building sessions trained about 75 farmers in composting, carbon balance, and moisture management.

We are pleased to share that ICRISAT’s elite perennial, multi-cut forage #sorghum lines have entered the evaluation pipeline of the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP). This marks a significant step toward independent, multi-location validation and paves a clearer pathway for advancing next-generation forage solutions. The candidate lines will be rigorously assessed for primary productivity, multi-cut performance and regrowth, tillering ability, and resilience, including tolerance to both cold and drought tolerance.
