@histories_arch Bit concerning that he lost all that weight, stayed healthy weight but ended up dying at just 51 anyway
English

In 1965, a man stopped eating — for the next 392 days (June 1965 to July 1966), he consumed no food at all, survived on water and vitamins, and walked out alive under medical supervision.
In 1965, a 27-year-old Scottish man named Angus Barbieri began what remains one of the most extraordinary medical cases ever documented.
Under close supervision at a hospital in Dundee, he stopped eating entirely. For 382 days (often rounded higher in retellings), he consumed only water, tea, coffee, and prescribed vitamins and electrolytes. His body relied on stored fat for energy, a prolonged state of ketosis, while doctors carefully monitored his health.
He started at roughly 456 pounds (207 kg) and ended around 180 pounds (82 kg), maintaining much of that loss afterward. Remarkably, his blood sugar stabilized, and he avoided the severe complications one might expect from such an extreme intervention.
This wasn’t a stunt, it was a controlled medical experiment in treating severe obesity at a time when options were limited. It’s also not something that can be safely replicated without strict medical oversight. Cases like this are rare for a reason.
Doctors were amazed by Barbieri's ability to resist the temptation to eat without having to stay in the hospital. He celebrated his achievement by going on a vacation in Spain for three weeks and a 1973 study found that Barbieri maintained a healthy weight of 196 pounds (89 kg) concluding that "prolonged fasting in this patient had no ill-effects." He moved to Warwick, married a woman named Mary, and had two sons. Barbieri died in September 1990 after a short illness at age 51.
Barbieri’s fast is still listed among the longest medically documented fasts in history, and he reportedly ate his first meal afterward, a boiled egg and toast, with no complications.

@RobJames12345 @historyrock_ Don't be silly MJ had a better catalog than the Beatles including owning theirs! Quincy was bitter about MJ too after he was sacked and was wrong about both, Beatles were one of the best bands/songwriters ever even if not technically.
English

@historyrock_ Interesting considering the fact that Michael Jackson didn't play any instruments at all and his musical catalog doesn't come close the quality of the Beatles. I wonder what he'd say about MJ.
English

@Malachians Still playing at a similar age, knees giving me jip but getting on the pitch and being in the battle with the adrenaline pumping totally different than gym or jogging and of course obligatory beers after is great. I would probably go to walking football next if need be.
English

I take my kid every week to football and love watching him play but there’s always a feeling of sadness that I can no longer put the boots on and play. If you’ve played football you’ll know what I mean, it doesn’t matter what level. The build up all week to your match, waking up on a Saturday morning filled with anticipation, running through endless same scenarios in your head that you thought about the night before you went to sleep. Getting your boots on, team talk and then crossing that white line. The indescribable feeling when you scored, the camaraderie with your mates and how you thought it would last forever. But one day will be your last game you’ll ever play, the last goal you’ll ever score and the last time you’ll ever take your boots off in your life. Enjoy it while it lasts, when you’re a footballer and you get to the point when you have to stop at the sideline, it’s such an empty feeling.

@paulgirl861 @younyourfriend @grok But it was about confidentiality and MJ won. Probably because MJ was continuing saying it was all lies and this affected Jordans life as millions of fans wanted his head on a spike. Who actually kept the money from the settlement, Jordan or the father? @grok
English

@ictdeptau @younyourfriend @grok Yes it’s true. He was living with his dad at the time and obviously filed this suit under his guidance and coercion. Isn’t it funny how they had no problem taking MJ to civil court, but would constantly run and hide from criminal court?
English

This “victim” threatened a prosecutor that he would legally fight a subpoena, he refused to speak to “leaving Neverland” director Dan Reed, he refused to help Gavin Arvizo, he refused to help Wade Robson, he refused to help James safechuck, and I can guarantee you that he will also refuse to help the Cascios. Robson and Safechuck’s lawyers even made an offer to him to protect his privacy by having him do a deposition in private and the details would be sealed and he still refused. Sorry but this isn’t the behavior of a genuine sexual abuse victim. It’s the behavior of someone who doesn’t want to condemn an innocent man.

English

@paulgirl861 This is weird. This same kid sued Michael again, separate of his parents, when he turned 18.

@mindofprospect But when I've tried making Mayo with olive oil it's way to strong. End up having to use a more neutral flavoured oil like Sunflower but that's not the best oil to have and most other options are very pricy.
English

I bet they will stop doing this soon. They’ve literally just given you a precise recipe. Any sensible person will look at this and decide to just make it themselves whenever they need it
Dr David Unwin@lowcarbGP
WELL DONE @marksandspencer You have understood the brief with respect to ingredients perfectly AND it’s really tasty 😋 HURRAH 🥳

@billejeanwho Was there at Wembley in 1997 from about the same distance. Not that easy to see MJ, some people had those boxes with mirrors to see over the crowd some others had their girlfriends on their shoulders OG Wembley wasn't the best stadium.
English

@GuntherEagleman Look at the cameraman he already adjusted his lens to the man before he got up
English

@AdvFtbAcad There was definitely something wrong in the Man Utd academy when this lot were coming through, similar work ethic from all of them. Eric Harrison would never have stood for it.
English

@StretfordPaddck Done OK in pressing but think we need to put him at Rb for Dalot and put Cunha on

@thedangerouspyt @andjustice4some @30_marie12 Weren't the people representing the estate involved in the Fake album? Nobody can be trusted
English

@andjustice4some @30_marie12 and TMZ immediately posts a pro-cascio article. Garagos and King can F right off. File a lawsuit on those nasty assholes committing fraud with that fake music Marty.
English

I do want to remind everyone that while we are celebrating right now, this is a TENTATIVE ruling which could change. I personally don't think it will, but I just want people to be aware of that. Like @30_marie12 said, today, Frank Cascio got CLOCKED by the judge.

@grok @Userxfrnoreasn @historyinmemes @grok finish the painting with oswald and Hartley posing looking a bit fed up about it
English

@Userxfrnoreasn @historyinmemes The British representatives in the 1783 Treaty of Paris negotiations were primarily Richard Oswald and David Hartley. They refused to pose for Benjamin West's commemorative painting, leaving the right side blank and the work unfinished.
English

@UTDFondre What are you talking about, if we bring a winger on I expect the ball to go to him, he has to own his right to be on the pitch no matter the age. Giggs came in at 17, demanded the ball and tore it up. if Lacey wants a good career he has to take it.
English

@PhilHowarth Keane and Neville would slag our players off now if we got to the final this year and did this.
English

@pgaskell13 Bad as recent games have been, you cannot discount the fact that the owners are gaslighting the fans by telling us we are the biggest club in the world yet even the likes of Arsenal can have 2 full 1st elevens whilst we struggle to put a team out with 7 players out.
English

@1ManUnitedNews Who are they gonna replace him with even if they do sack him
English

@PaamanuelUtd_ only 2 attacking players, rest are defensive. We will be lucky to score one.
English

@veryjord @markgoldbridge Club won't play 60m for 2 WBs or fullbacks unlike City, Chelsea etc. Would take money off the Glazers profits
