One of the early and great songs I discovered of Mac’s was “Angel's Theme.” When I first heard this lovely melody, I got very emotional. It was stored in his files from his early college days. Mac was just beginning to write on piano and for other instruments and came up with the beautiful melody featuring violin and piano. Not only did I find the recording he made, but I also found his original chart and arrangement. I loved it so much that I brought it to my LT Dan Band music director Ben Lewis and we’ve added it to our set list. Mac’s salute to the troops. In September of 2025, we filmed the song at our Nashville Salutes Heroes event at the Nashville Speedway. This is a special song, one of the first that Mac wrote.
