Your recipes app that will scale to 27 users (your friends trying to be nice) does not need a go backend.
90% of the time your project will almost never reach a point where your choice of backend programming language even remotely matters.

you people are beginning to see the light. no reason to be writing backend applications in nodejs and python when you have go in 2026. go is superior in every way. speed, dx, efficiency, simpler (than ts. no hidden quirks), concurrency and tooling.

Typescript and JavaScript have their issues but this kind of claims sometimes bury your own incompetence too. We should stop blaming one language. Fine, use the language that is more consistent for the task but remember, the issue is due to your incompetence too, maybe in js.

i built this a while back, works as an iframe so no device permissions needed. you'd just need a spotify client id and secret from your developer dashboard, readme explains the rest.

I have been able to do it.
I built a small Chrome extension that reads the DOM for what I'm currently playing and sends the result to a small backend I wrote.
Android exposes NotificationListenerService and MediaSessionManager API, so I created a small app using Kotlin to listen for media events and send to the endpoint.
Everything worked out nicely.
