Can pay transparency close gender wage gaps in developing countries? Brazil became the first developing country to enact a large-scale pay transparency law in 2023. With @tadeuccastro , @iedarm , @bph_econ , we collaborated with Brazil's @MinPlanejamento to estimate the policy's effects thus far using a regression discontinuity design. The answer: So far, no. We find precise null effects on every outcome. A thread.
