‘UX Portfolio Design’ is now available as an ebook and in print with a hard or soft cover. Researching this book took years. I hope you find it useful. chopstix.it/uxpdbook

@lastravenlondon @krishgm Verbal tics are a disability. So, yes, you are demanding that a disabled person apologise for their disability. Exactly that.

There is no explanation I can think of for the BBC’s failure to edit out the involuntary racist language at last night’s BAFTA’s - which perhaps explains why there has been no explanation.

@KimJohnsonMP I understand the upset, but it was an involuntary Tourette’s tic. Editing it out would imply shame and distort the reality of disability. Add context and an apology—but don’t treat a disabled person’s symptom as misconduct. Do better, Kim.

The BBC deserves every bit of criticism here – it should never have been broadcast. How is it that ‘Free Palestine’ can be censored, but the n-word was allowed to initially be aired? It doesn’t add up. Serious questions need answering. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

The @BBC should never have aired the N-word racist slur, directed at @michaelb4jordan & @authenticdelroy. It had a two-hour delay! This is painful & unforgivable. I've requested an urgent explanation.

@zarahsultana Your take is confused. 1. BAFTA were responsible for the awards, not the BBC. 2. It was an involuntary Tourette’s tic. Editing it out would imply shame and distort the reality of disability. Add context and an apology—but don’t treat a disabled person’s symptom as misconduct.

Really sad that John Davidson felt he had to leave the BAFTAs early because of distress caused by his involuntary Tourette’s tics. No-one should be made to feel excluded from public life because of a disability. The BBC failed in its duty of care to him, Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo. They made a conscious decision not to edit the involuntary racist slur from the broadcast, and 24 hours later there’s still no explanation. Shame on them.
DiscussingFilm@DiscussingFilm

John Davidson says he is “deeply mortified” that anyone thought his involuntary tics were “intentional or to carry any meaning.” Full statement: “I wanted to thank BAFTA and everyone involved in the awards last night for their support and understanding and inviting me to attend the broadcast. I appreciated the announcement to the auditorium in advance of the recording, warning everyone that my tics are involuntary and are not a reflection of my personal beliefs. I was heartened by the round of applause that followed this announcement and felt welcomed and understood in an environment that would normally be impossible for me. In addition to the announcement by Alan Cumming, the BBC and BAFTA,  I can only add that I am, and always have been deeply mortified if anyone considers my involuntary tics to be intentional or to carry any meaning. I was in attendance to celebrate the film of my life, I SWEAR, which more than any film or TV documentary, explains the origins, condition, traits and manifestations of Tourette Syndrome. I have spent my life trying to support and empower the Tourette’s community and to teach empathy, kindness and understanding from others and I will continue to do so. I chose to leave the auditorium early into the ceremony as I was aware of the distress my tics were causing.”

@MoiraJobs @krishgm The host provided context and apologised to all. Does the disabled person not deserve understanding?

@ifenn @krishgm Free Palestine was edited out. Also, no one directly apologized to the two black men who were humiliated by the outburst. Do they not deserve dignity?

@DawnButlerBrent There were several utterances. That's why the host provided context and an apology.

@DawnButlerBrent @BBC @michaelb4jordan @authenticdelroy I understand the upset, but it was an involuntary Tourette’s tic. Editing it out would imply shame and distort the reality of disability. Request a statement of context and an apology—but don’t treat a disabled person’s symptom as misconduct and demand a broadcaster hide it.

@HannahEBeachler I’m sorry you had an upsetting experience. If the word came from an involuntary tic, it wasn’t “directed” at anyone. Given the disability context, people will react differently — which is how I read the wording of the apology.

And a third time at a Black woman. I understand and deeply know why this is an impossible situation. I know we must handle this with grace and continue to push through. But what made the situation worse was the throw away apology of "if you were offended"

I keep trying to write about what happened at the BAFTAs, and I can't find the words. The situation is almost impossible, but it happened 3 times that night, and one of the three times was directed at myself on the way to dinner after the show.

@HannahEBeachler Did he apologise? I am sympathetic to his tic but it doesn't take much to apologise for the upset he caused and I am seeing no apology from him.

This shocking Sun investigation lays bare the risk posed by these illegal immigrants. Women are being raped and sexually assaulted and even police officers attacked. We know that the nationalities crossing the Channel are 24 times more likely to wind up in prison than average. Yvette Cooper has let in the highest-ever number of illegal immigrants so far this year and has lost control of our borders. Women and girls are at risk as a result. I’m sick of the crime being committed by illegal immigrants coming from France. We just need to deport them all immediately upon arrival, whether to Rwanda or elsewhere. thesun.co.uk/news/35899023/… @TheSun @SunPolitics @julia_atherley

@NetworkRailBHM If the passenger assistance desk is closed, having somebody on the gate is the least you can do. Or are disabled people not allowed to travel before 9am on a Sunday?

@saj_anderson @SThomasKT You lost the argument, so now you resort to tone policing. Nice. For clarity, I would not have looked for payment. I would have been going out of my way to do you a favour. Hopefully, you can get a nice young person to do the same.
