Hardy Scot turned into a softy living in warmer climes. I forget I am getting older and a bit less tolerant! Missing some aspects of times goneby.

Corstorphine railway station, Edinburgh, 1902–1968. The train journey from Corstorphine to Edinburgh Waverley took 11 minutes. The site has since been built over by Mactaggart & Mickel, and is now occupied by the Paddockholm Estate.

Derby Midland Railway Station. A grand Victorian masterpiece with real civic presence is now a bland box with a glass canopy and corporate signage. Britain used to build for beauty and permanence, what happened to our standards?

@iforgot771 @AilishSinclair hahahaha, they are addictive... Well..., you know that we have a traditional meal per week and per city or town. In this case, torrijas are made in the whole country.

The wind is really picking up in this corner of Norfolk now. The sky keeps darkening over the trees and I’m hiding in the house as there is chocolate…

@Disc_light You should feel privileged to work in such an environment but don't forget the other areas still have some charm---my sons were born there, although they don't mention it as they moved to Leeds when they were 3 and 4 yo!!!

F-15s flying out of RAF Lakenheath are a very familiar sight — and sound — here on the North Norfolk coast, which makes the news from Iran today seem particularly close to home. I'm praying for the safe return of the pilots, but also for a just and lasting peace.

Truth matters. Pres Trump says ‘Never in the history of warfare has an enemy suffered such clear and devastating large-scale losses in a matter of weeks’. How about Iraq in 2003, Israel’s Arab enemies in 1967, and France in 1940? The difference is, Iran is still resisting — and still persecuting its own citizens.

@FXMC1957 The Norman Conquest led to a multiple dictatorship-it likely resulted in tens of thousands of deaths, making it one of the most devastating events in medieval English history. Eat your heart out Joseph Stalin
