1st time (for me) observing an EC mechanism while collecting cyclic voltammograms for a lanthanide in Ionic liquids. By varying the scan rate it’s possible (sometimes) to outrun the chemical rxn. The EC mechanism is a simple example of a coupled homogeneous chemical reaction.

#organoechem tip of the day. Most reference electrodes are not suitable for organic media. They either contaminate your solution or introduce unnecessary ohmic drop (= misshaped curves). Solution: use a quasi-ref and add Fc as internal ref! @IKAworldwide #RealTimeChem

@saul_hrr 1. It is basically the diffusion profile of a specie involved in an electrochemical process. At the electrode-electrolyte interface (x=0), the concentration was set to zero because the all the specie is oxidized. Consequently, species must diffuse from the bulk of the electroyte.
