Not emotional, mate. I lived through that period. I know what I am talking about. Some volunteered, some were conscripted (call-up as it was called) and then around 1978 the Rhodesian government was literally abducting Black Africans at job centres for military training. The abductees were trained in isolation with no contact with family until being passed out. They were trained in guerilla tactics mostly to counter the ZANLA and ZIPRA who were trained around those tactics. This group were generally referred to as the Auxiliary Forces and given different uniforms from the Rhodesian Army. I know what I am talking about.

Some of the most lopsided battles in all military history are from the Rhodesian Bush War in the 70's. You'd have units like the Rhodesian Light Infantry fighting guerrillas that outnumbered them 10 to 1 or 20 to 1 or 100 to 1. And they would inflict thousands of casualties with like 1 guy injured.
