Alaa From Gaza
Alaa From Gaza@alaafromgaza92·
Hi, this is Alaa Radwan, I wanted to clarify my situation following the attack I was subjected to. I have deleted the tweet that reached over 6.5 million views, in which I asked for support to help cover part of the expenses for pursuing my MA in the UK. I have also temporarily deactivated my account after receiving a large volume of hateful comments and messages. I am attaching a small sample of these messages in the comments. I would like to firmly confirm that I am a real person and that this fundraiser is genuine. I am not a scammer. This is my fundraiser gofund.me/e7f29e9fb I'd like to thank everyone who donated to my cause. In addition to the online harassment, I have also been subjected to a highly distressing and inaccurate attack on British national television on GB News. In response to these accusations, I have written a detailed article explaining my situation and addressing the claims made against me. You can read it here: alaafromgaza.substack.com/p/attacked-on-… The GB News segment can be viewed here: youtube.com/watch?v=UXIpsu… @JKSteinberger @MonicaLMarks @History__Speaks @owenjonesjourno @KavitaAlguMD

Penned some thoughts on Somaliland nationalism in the wake of the depraved mutual recognition agreement with Israel last Dec. It was mostly written about a month before the war on Iran & Lebanon and v recent (worrying) developments there. Hope it's a useful contribution!
Prometheus Magazine@prometheus_mag

Yasmin Dualeh offers a meditation on the likelihood of Somaliland nationalism's survival in the wake of Israel’s recognition of Somaliland, as well as its implications for imperial geopolitics and the future of Somali sovereignty in the Horn of Africa. prometheus-mag.com/2026/03/12/som…

Jailhouse Lawyers Speak - 🇸🇩 🇨🇩 🇵🇸
🌙 SUPPORT EID BEHIND BARS 🌙 Every year, JLS ensures our imprisoned muslim brothers and sisters can celebrate Eid with dignity. This year, we are providing aid to 6 prisons across 3 states. THE GOAL: We need to raise $2,500 to add to the $1,700 already committed.

@iimaanm Great syllabus, and thanks for sharing. Week 11 could do well with Lwanga Lunyiigo's Uganda: An Indian Colony and Decker's In Idi Amin's Shadow as companions to Slow Poison. Peterson's could be dropped altogether, really.

@Dumebioloo One of the major assignments is to analyze a film or novel about East Africa in the 19th or early 20th century. Do you have any film recommendations?

@Sdet_M I chose the readings based on what would be most accessible to students in an introductory class without prior knowledge of the subject but I will definitely include Oromo history in the lectures. If you have any reading recommendations, please share!

@iimaanm I might read those. But Bahru is a bit mainstream. Why not look for Oromo scholars who show the colonial character of Ethiopia, especially from Menelik on? And EPLF's totalitarian character in the last one. Btw, do you sometimes work with fiction, or have students who do so?

@iimaanm Really shifted my thinking on communism really was and how not that different it was from capitalism if you look at USSR as an energy/crude oil project that contested Western big oil

@xirsigdsn lol yes, the clan stuff is not irrelevant but it is not at all the original sin everyone makes it out to be. i wish i could find some good writing on post-2000s rural land tenure/politics in the river valley. the little research i've done there, everyone is too terrified to speak
