Deputy Prime Minister / Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 chaired a high-level meeting to review the country’s petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL) stock position. The Petroleum Ministry briefed the committee on the prevailing supply situation, confirming that, after factoring in incoming shipments, sufficient stock levels are available to ensure uninterrupted availability of POL products throughout Pakistan until the third week of June 2026. The Committee was further informed that the supply situation is being continuously monitored on a daily basis through the National Coordination and Management Committee (NCMC) to ensure effective oversight and proactive supply chain management. DPM/FM commended the efforts of all relevant stakeholders for ensuring the steady and reliable availability of fuel across the country, particularly amid prevailing global and domestic challenges. The meeting was attended by Ministers for Petroleum, IT & Telecommunication, Minister of State for Finance, SAPM Mr. Tariq Bajwa, Secy Petroleum, Secy Interior, representatives of OGRA, and senior government officials from relevant ministries and departments.

Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 chaired today a meeting of the Committee on Security Assessment of Oil Refineries and Oil Shortage Facilities. The Committee reviewed the security arrangements of refineries and other oil storage facilities across the country. The Coordinator, National Coordination and Management Committee (NCMC), apprised the Committee that necessary measures are being taken in consultation and coordination with all concerned stakeholders, including refineries and oil marketing companies, to ensure the security of these strategic facilities. He also informed that the cost of these additional security measures will be borne by the Oil Marketing Companies. DPM/FM expressed satisfaction over the current security arrangements. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding critical energy infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted national fuel supply throughout the country. The meeting was attended by the Minister for IT, Minister of State for Finance, Federal Secretaries of Petroleum and Interior, and senior federal & provincial government officials.

Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 today received the Deputy Foreign Minister of Norway, H.E. Mr. Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two sides held discussions on the evolving regional situation. DPM/FM underscored Pakistan’s continued efforts to promote engagement and dialogue for peace and stability in the region and beyond. Mr. Kravik reiterated Norway’s support for Pakistan’s constructive role and its ongoing efforts toward a peaceful and durable resolution of the conflict. Both sides also explored avenues to further strengthen bilateral relations and deepen engagement across diverse sectors of mutual interest. Mr. Kravik conveyed an invitation from the Norwegian Foreign Minister to DPM/FM to participate in the Oslo Forum scheduled for next month. DPM/FM expressed appreciation for the invitation. Both sides agreed to remain in close contact on bilateral matters, and issues relating to peace, stability, and development.

Pleased to announce that twenty-two crew members from the seized Iranian container vessel, “MV Touska”, have been safely evacuated to Pakistan. The individuals were safely flown in Pakistan last night and will be transferred to Iran today. The Iranian ship is also being backloaded to Pakistani territorial waters for its return to its original owners after necessary repairs. These actions are being coordinated with the support of both the Iranian and the US authorities and surely constitute an important confidence-building measure. Pakistan expresses its appreciation to the United States and Iran, and remains committed to facilitating dialogue, diplomacy, and mediation for the regional peace and security.
