A long day today. Another two sites in, now just three to go. We spent a lot of the day nervously in clouds, but thankfully didn't get stuck. Team is tired now and eagerly awaiting curry. Thanks Graydon for the field nap photo! #PTANGO

Happy to see this paper out on the @uwiseismic/@mvoms work during #lasoufriere eruption in #stvincent . It tells monitoring, communication, and collaboration, in a low resources environment @NEMOSVG @VolcanoJenni @RaphaelGrandin @jvernier82 @ijhamling @BDaviesGeo @PaulCole23

We're excited to share our new #openaccess paper in @NatureComms on the 2020 – 2021 #eruption of #lasoufriere #volcano #stvincent rdcu.be/cRLEE. We discuss the challenges of responding to #eruptive transitions in a resourced constrained 🌋setting.

@NZvolcanologist Were you checking for the use by date or if there was any beer left in the bottle! How many takes did you need?

Before and after #Sentinel1 amplitude image of #HungaTongaHungaHaapai eruption. Radar data shows almost complete loss of the sub-aerial edifice built during 2014 eruption and early stages of the current activity.

Mostly because @ijhamling is such an assiduous fellow, we found a bunch of quite large mistakes with a jvgr paper on some apparent deformation leading up to the latest Whakaari eruption. So we wrote a rather uncommon comment on it

This was quite a surprise. I'm very grateful for all the help I have received towards this. I'm really looking forward to spending more time thinking about cool earthquake problems, getting new data from awesome places, and more fun collaborations!

A JVGR paper suggested that the Dec 9 eruption at White Island could've been forecast based on deformation signals derived from InSAR analysis. @ijhamling got to work and the interpretation is based on errors with processing, so we wrote a comment authors.elsevier.com/c/1conT1LkU3YV…

It's been a big day in Aotearoa. We've had the most amazing self evacuation response to tsunami and three M7+ earthquakes. Our scientists and emergency response teams have reacted brilliantly. On top of all this we've had no community cases of covid for 5 days. Kia kaha NZ!
