There are 1400 school buildings in NYC. School zones are about 3-block radius (0.16 sq miles) which means 224 sq miles of streets will be affected. NYC is ~300 sq miles. So 75% of NYC streets will covered by the 15mph law! Map credit: @The74

We're implementing the largest expansion of Sammy’s Law in city history: lowering speed limits to 15 MPH at every eligible school by the end of our first term. And we’re not waiting to get started. This year, we’re lowering speed limits at 800 additional locations to 15 MPH, bringing the citywide total for School Slow Zones to nearly 1,300 by the close of 2026. New York City’s streets should be the safest in the world - especially for kids - and City Hall is using every tool at our disposal to make that a reality as quickly as possible.

In business, life, and investing, the risk-reward principle always applies: higher risk = higher potential reward. I'm Sheraz, a NYC real estate broker with 10+ years helping clients buy, sell, and invest in NYC properties. Low-risk/low-reward: Buy a leased vanilla property with a 4-6% cap rate and simply manage it. Fine if you're risk-averse. High-risk/high-reward: Buy foreclosures, short sales, or auctions—distressed assets with squatters, violations, code issues, or evictions needed. These require significant time, energy, and money, so higher risk leads to higher potential reward. Most investors lose money or break even on their first few deals by underestimating risk and overestimating reward. The key to succeeding in high-risk plays is mitigating risk with a strong team—good realtors, accountants, lawyers, and contractors. Buy cheap, have a clear plan (evict, fix violations, rehab), maximize value, then flip or hold.

@NewsLambert This only makes sense. Houses have gotten larger with more amenities thus driving the prices up for new homes. Go back to smaller and affordable homes. These are what you call starter homes.
