🇮🇷 Iran is now threatening to close the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
That narrow waterway already carries 12% of the world’s oil and gas trade and a big portion of containers moving from Asia to Europe.
If both Bab al-Mandeb and the Strait of Hormuz stay shut, roughly a quarter of global energy supplies would be blocked.
The Houthis have already proven they can disrupt shipping there, they did it during the Gaza war.
This would hit world trade hard.
