@SunThorn123 @playcentermd Are you not including Chara's monologues? They're the only part of the game that technically requires The Player to be a thing due to Chara's role & the topics within are impossible to adequately explain in-universe. It's the time the game goes full 4th wall break.

@playcentermd It’s sorta hard to articulate but Undertale doesn’t really ever break the 4th wall. Characters like Flowey and Sans may get close, but they only ever acknowledge the in-world mechanics of the universe that parallel the fact it’s a video game

@RukirWithCheese @starrysiffrin -some other gender identity that lets them be a prince sometimes, then Ralsei doesn't actually defy their "purpose," which makes the focus on being yourself in spite of what the prophecy determines a tiny bit weird. At least that's my opinion, anyway.

@RukirWithCheese @starrysiffrin It just works better Flowery & Ralsei's dynamic is all about how Flowery wants Ralsei to realize that they don't need to follow their purpose and can instead choose to be happy. Ralsei's role & purpose is to be The Prince. If Ralsei is genderfluid, or bigender, or -

@MeruNeterFrudre @Solenhal @cumbuqui_nha @louietoons26 And tbh Chara being the one whose name got called doesn't really make any sense with how the game frames the scene..? The one being called to is part of Asriel's SOUL, and every follow-up save interaction (after the realization of who needs to be saved) is just on Asriel himself.

He could have been saying that, sure, but he also could have been telling Chara to save Asriel or saying that Chara should or does get saved as well. It's rather unclear.

@cumbuqui_nha @Solenhal @louietoons26 Their newfound love for and determination to save their friends along with Chara's drive then results in the combined resistance against Asriel. And that arc also results in Frisk getting a name/identity separate from Chara/You. I think it's a fairly compelling read, at least.

@cumbuqui_nha @Solenhal @louietoons26 Like the Save File being owned by Chara (according to Flowey). Frisk keeps going because Chara (who is also symbolically You) keeps staying determined. It's not until the end of the pacifist route & their arc in it that they become truly determined to keep going on their own.

They are under the impression that it is limited to the dark world and something that everyone subconsciously interacts with. It's currently framed as "Dark Worlds have video game rules" rather than "you are literally in a video game."

@UltimaShadowX There's (apperantly?) some code in the game that allows for interactivity between save files later that was implemented during Chapter 5 but I got no idea what that could entail (nor does anyone else I think)

@gasterstruelove People saying that it's HERO_SWORD don't realise that if you have it on-screen and don't do anything before Susie unplugs the controller it just explodes on-screen. It couldn't have been HERO_SWORD in that case it has to be something else

@AnonymousU91923 @Mrbest7762 @StarkyTheSald Flowey talking to Chara puts Chara into the role of player stand-in. It states that Chara owns the SAVE files and should leave Frisk alone. This doesn't work with the already weak playerless views of the genocide route, which require Frisk to the player stand-in and SAVE owner.

@AnonymousU91923 @Mrbest7762 @StarkyTheSald While it technically doesn't act as proof alone, it does significantly damage a lot of anti-player arguments due to what the scene implies. It's why people who deny the player will tend to call Flowey delusional or refuse to accept the scene being considered canon at all.

@JacquesPaught @pump_upthejam_ The narration portrays their thoughts/actions in 2nd person because we're playing as them. We are Kris when we do, so Asriel is our brother In the egg room dialogue, I think we are temporarily leaving Kris's perspective, so the narration shifts to talking about them in 3rd POV.

@aggadahGothic My initial takeaway was that Flowery's line is a reference to Kris wearing the red horn headband in an attempt to "pretend" to be a monster. So he forces Ralsei, who cares more about Kris, on the defensive by telling them to explain why pretending is bad in front of Kris.

(deltarune spoilers) ive not seen any convincing interpretations of this other than ralsei being trans (which i feel works as subtext but not as the direct meaning) or ralsei being semi-lightner like, why would ralsei hide that hes "secretly" a Being of Pure Darkness or whatever?
