@tavkniesnythews Ultimately you don’t want to turn it into what the oilers are doing. Matthews doesn’t want an average team, and him saying that means he will be 100% healthy next year. If a team has a generational talent like McDavid/Matthews you go all-in. There’s no middle.

Before Matthews left in the Summer, he mentioned the Bruins one-off season, he mentioned Tampa Bays one-off season before they finally won. Then said he wants to be part of the solution in Toronto but he can’t predict the future. I bet he wants to know what the Leafs plan to do this off season to stay competitive. If he believes in their plan, he stays. Gavin McKenna changes everything for the Leafs. Stick to the facts. Not what the media is telling you.
