With that said, whether Trump just changed anything or not, at a minimum, he is drawing attention to something that not everyone knew about. Hopefully this improves things for vets.

1. My OP says when I got out. 2. The major carriers follow FMCSA rules which means they don’t hire illegals. The people that hire illegals are the same people who abuse a loophole in the MC system where they start a company, get a new MC number and run it until their rating is so bad no one will give them loads, shut down the business, abandon the MC number and repeat. They hire illegals because they’re the only people who will work for pennies on the dollar. Trump needs to shut that loophole before he can get rid of illegal truck drivers because they’ll still drive even without a CDL. 3. You’re not taking into consideration that I fucking work in this industry so I would know a fuckload more about it than you do. You just assume that anyone who doesn’t say “Thank you Trump” while throwing him a ticker tape parade after he takes his morning shit is a hater. Grow up.

Stifled by democrats? I would say it was more stifled by SNCOs who were motivated by getting troops to reenlist instead of getting out. I learned about this program in the transition classes I had to take prior to getting out. There was an entire day dedicated to job recruiters talking to us trying to hire us as soon as we got our DD-214s. Not everyone is interested in being a truck driver so not everyone took advantage of the program. Some went on to be police officers because NYPD and Georgia State Police came recruiting. Some went to work for Norfolk Southern because the railroad came recruiting. So went off and did their own thing.

Idiots like you don’t understand that not everyone in the military gets trained to operate heavy vehicles. Nor do you understand that not every veteran wants to be a truck driver when they get out. Even if a veteran wanted to be a truck driver, this program only applies to those who had the right qualifications on their military driver’s license otherwise they’re required to go through the process just like everyone else. And the GI Bill pays for truck driving school to get them through that process.
